Join internationally known educational consultant and auth or C arolyn Coil in th is prac tical, h an ds- on workshop! In this works hop, participants will:

• Understand the many reasons for assessing students

• Look at uses and functions of pre-assessment, formative assessment and summative assessment

• Compare Standardized Assessment and Differentiated Assessment

• Learn to write learning goals and objectives that can be reliably and fairly assessed

• See ways to develop assessment criteria consistent with learning goals and objectives

• Develop and write Criteria Cards and several different types of rubrics

• Learn ways to make assessment criteria clear to students and parents

• Examine ways to assess curricular elements that are more subjective and individual in nature

• Leave the workshop with practical assessment instruments they can use in their classrooms immediately

Carolyn is an internationally known speaker, author, trainer, consultant and educator. An enthusiastic, motivating and energetic speaker, she has worked in the field of education for over 40 years. Carolyn is known for her energy, enthusiasm, practical knowledge and down-to-earth presentation style.

She works with teachers, parents and administrators offering realistic and user-friendly strategies for raising student achievement, gifted education, motivating underachievers, creative and critical thinking, differentiating curriculum and assessing student performance. Carolyn has been teaching graduate-level courses in gifted education since 1989.

Carolyn is the author of many journal articles and a number of best-selling educational books. She has worked with teachers in many international schools and has presented workshops throughout the United States and in Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, the Marshall Islands, Spain, Germany, Ecuador, Croatia, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Indonesia, India, Mexico, Canada, the Philippines, China and South Korea.
