ADMISSION GUIDELINES ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Applicants to WVSU College of Law Juris Doctor (JD PROGRAM) must have obtained the following:

1 Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Sciences, or a higher academic degree, from an authorized and recognized higher education institution. As prescribed by the Legal Education Board (LEB), 2 The applicant must have completed at least EIGHTEEN (18) UNITS OF ENGLISH, SIX (6)

UNITS OF MATHEMATICS, EIGHTEEN (18) UNITS OF SOCIAL SCIENCE subjects (pursuant to LEB Memorandum Order (LEBMO) No. 1, Series of 2011, Article III, Section 16)

Note: A bachelor’s degree holder who passed the Law School Qualifying Test (LSQT) but lacks the required number of units in the required courses may conditionally enter the College of Law, but must satisfy these requirements within a period of one (1) year from the time of admission.

1. College of Law Admissions Committee shall take into consideration the applicant’s scholastic records and abilities, entrance exam results, interview ratings and other relevant factors for admission. The Dean shall be the admitting officer.

2. The WVSU JD Program shall be full-time mode of study to be completed in FOUR (4) YEARS. Admission Requirements for Academic Year 2022-2023.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

1. The applicant must accomplish the online application form through the WVSU website and attach the following:

a. Photocopy of collegiate transcript of records,

b. If graduation is not yet reflected in the transcript, a true copy of grades or a certification of candidacy for graduation is required and email it to [email protected].

c. Two (2) recommendation letters coming from (a) the dean or former professor of the applicant’s last school attended, and (b) any disinterested person (not a relative by consanguinity or affinity) who knows the applicant well enough to provide a true character reference which must be sent through email by the recommender directly to [email protected]

d. Recommendation letters coming from the applicant’s email account will not be recognized.

3. Qualified applicants must pay the Admission and Testing Fee.

4. Qualified applicants must submit to a personal interview scheduled by the Committee on Admissions.

5. Qualified applicants must pass the Psychological and Physical Examination to be conducted by the West Visayas State University Clinic

6. Upon enrolment, the following must be submitted:

a. (1 certified True Copy & 1 Photocopy) of Collegiate transcript of records if graduation is not yet reflected in the transcript, a true copy of grades or a certification of candidacy for graduation is required.

b. (1 Original & 1 Photocopy) Transfer credentials / Honorable dismissal

c. Two (2) photocopies of certificate of Live Birth, and Marriage Certificate, if any (PSA-generated)

e. (1 certified True Copy & 1 Photocopy) of Certificate of Good Moral Character from the college/university (last) attended.

f. Two (2) copies 2’’x2’’ I.D> picture with white background

All applications must be made online starting MARCH 15, 2022 to May 31, 2022 on or before 5:00 PM.

ADMISSION AND TESTING FEES 1. ADMISSION FEE

a. After receipt of the confirmation of your online application, pay the admission fee of THREE HUNDRED (P300.00) Pesos, Philippine currency, to the nearest Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) or Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) Branch nearest you.

b. Fill out two copies of the deposit slip completely and legibly write the following information:

Account Number: 00630-755-1 Account Name: WVSU-Fund 164 Total Cash Deposit: (Amount to Pay)

Signature of Depositor/Representative (Printed name): (Complete Name of Student)

If through Landbank of the Philippines (LBP)

Account Number: 0032-1545-90 Account Name: WVSU-Fund 164 Total Cash Deposit: (Amount to Pay)

Make the deposit and secure a copy of bank validated slip. Send the scanned copy or picture of the validated deposit slip to [email protected]. The College of Law Dean’s Office will forward the Official Receipt to the University Cashier for issuance of your Official Receipt.

2. TESTING FEE for Center for Educational Measurement (CEM):

The payment for the testing fee of Nine Hundred (P900.00) Pesos, Philippine currency, shall be made after the successful completion and review of the online application, the applicant will then be notified to pay the fee for the Entrance Examination.

Details for the payment of the Law School Qualifying Test (LSQT) by the Center for Educational Measurement (CEM) are as follows:

a. For checks payments, check should be made payable to Center for Educational Measurement, Inc.

b. Once payment has been made, the applicant needs to submit a scanned copy of the deposit slip/proof of transaction confirming the payment made to CEM account directly to

[email protected].

c. WVSU COL will verify the submitted copy of the deposit slip/proof of transaction and put remarks to the List of Registered Examinees (LRE) including the date of payment, for easy monitoring.

N.B. According to LEB Memorandum Circular No. 52 (Advisory on PhilSAT) dated February 26, 2020, the Legal Education Board has decided to defer the administration of the Philippine Law School Admission Test (PhilSAT) scheduled originally for April 2020. Due to this development, PhilSAT results will no longer be required of WVSU JD applicants; hence, the Entrance Examination.

June 11, 2022 Examinees/Candidates Orientation by the CEM (Sending of Demo test, COAG and Video)

June 18, 2022 Online Admission Test

IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING THE CEM ONLINE ASSESSMENTS!!!

Please make sure that the applicant has the following facilities (hardware and software) before considering to take the CEM Online Assessments.

1. The online assessment can be taken only using a Laptop or Desktop with either a built-in or detachable webcam. It is important that the candidate uses a Laptop with the following specifications as listed in the table below. (Apple/Mac gadgets are not allowed).

It is very important that the proper windows environment, free from any communication app, firewall and antivirus are facilitated in your hardware. Kindly see the Set-up and Trouble Shooting Guidelines for details.

2. Ensure that you are able to download the secure browser three (3) days before the exam and test the compatibility of the browser with your computer, as certain applications might not coincide with the secure browser. You are encouraged to thoroughly read through and understand the (a) Candidate’s Online Assessment Guide,(b) Frequently Asked Questions (c) Practice/Demo Test, (d) Set-up and Troubleshooting Guide, etc.

- CEM respects the candidates’ privacy and has implemented procedures to ensure that the CEM test process is completed in a safe, secure and integrable manner.

- CEM reserves the right to ensure the security of test content by using invigilation protocols that will enable us to observe the candidate while taking the test.

3. Before taking the test, the candidate may be asked for a visual inspection of surroundings, clothing, footwear, and ID documents. Such inspections may be conducted during check- in and registration stage, or at any point of the test session. It is highly recommended that the candidate to take the test in a room free of distractions and anything that might inhibit his/her test performance. Test-related information written on clothing, shoes, tables and chairs, room walls, ID documents or on any part of the body or room is prohibited.

Examinees should be prepared to undergo security measures to ensure a fair testing environment. Failure to comply may result in dismissal from the test and forfeiture of your test fees.

- Food, beverages, tobacco and e-cigarettes are not allowed while you are taking the exam.

- A “No-show” fee will be levied on the candidate/school in case a registered examinee doesn’t show up and register during his/her exam date. Tardiness is considered, “No show”

CEM reserves the right to take all action—including, but not limited to, barring the candidate from

future testing and/or withholding or canceling your scores—for failure to comply with test

administration regulations or the test administrator's directions, stipulated in the guidelines for online

assessments.

When the candidate’s test is cancelled for due cause, they will not be reported and your registration and test fees will not be refunded and/or considered. Reports of cheating will be investigated thoroughly;

due process will be observed and offenders may be prosecuted to the full extent of the applicable laws.

Link for the installation of the software can be downloaded once you conduct the

system compatibility check.

Internet Connection Stable with speed of at least 5 mbps

Scratch Pad (for tests that need

computation)

Any of the following:

mini whiteboard (approximately A3 or A4 size) with whiteboard marker and eraser

plastic/paper magic slate

clear acetate/plastic sheet with whiteboard marker and eraser

plain chalkboard with chalk and eraser

These will be used for scratch work.

Use of any paper is NOT allowed.

Personal Identification School ID (from previous or current school year) or

Government ID

ID should be presented on the actual test day.

Testing Area or Room ALL of the following:

Conducive to testing Quiet or with no distracting noise With good lighting and ventilation

Free of any prohibited materials (e.g. phone or electronic gadgets, calculator, review materials, watch, etc.)

Examinee must be alone in the room.
