Parents commonly experienced increased levels of stress due to the presence of differently abled children (Powers, 2001) and such stress was influenced by several factors (Boyd, 2015). They should identify family sources of support and promote Coping Mechanisms of Parents with Children with Different Skills.

Research Design

Similarly, parents with children with autism had difficulty communicating because of their children's speech and language disabilities. In addition, parents were anxious about their children's misbehavior as they acted very hyper and stubborn.

English Language Learning, Strategy Use and Academic Performance of College Students

English Language Learning, Strategy Use and Academic Performance of College Students

Introduction

Similarly, students' English language use (ELU) was strongly related to their academic performance in other areas (Saquing-Guingab, 2015). This study aims to determine the impact of English language learning and strategy use on the academic performance of second-year students. Researchers have argued that learning English and using strategies affect their academic performance.

It also investigated whether there is a relationship between English language learning and strategy use and the respondents' academic performance. Likewise, students' English language use (ELU) is highly correlated with their academic performance in other areas (Saquing-Guingab, 2015).

Employers’ Satisfaction on the Performance of New College Graduates

Employer feedback on the performance of new college graduates is an important piece of information that schools must consider to determine the relevance and responsiveness of their curriculum, programs, and services. This study aimed to determine employers' satisfaction with the performance of new college graduates of Cor Jesu College, Philippines. The implication of the study in the continuous improvement of the curriculum, programs and services is discussed.

The success of any school depends on the employability and performance of its graduates in the workplace. Employers expect rigid training in school that would prepare graduates for the world of work (Hesketh, 2000).

Review of Related Literature

Schools are integrating employability skills as part of their student attributes (Nilsson, 2010; Baker, 2009). Schools conduct tracking studies and employer satisfaction surveys to assess whether their training is in line with industry requirements. To move forward and advance excellence, being one of the pillars of the school, Cor Jesu College would like to know how relevant and responsive its curriculum, program and services are to the needs of the industry.

This study is therefore based on the discrepancy theory by looking at how satisfied employers are with the graduates from Cor Jesu College. From the employers' side, this will give them the chance to provide a feedback mechanism to the school for the latter's improvement.

Objective of the Study

This study was conducted to determine employer satisfaction with the performance of employees who graduated from Cor Jesu College. As one of the foremost Catholic educational institutions in Southern Mindanao, Cor Jesu College is committed to providing the right and well-trained workforce for the country. The outcome of the study will be useful for the school to have an insight into the performance of its graduates and at the same time provide feedback for evaluation and improvement of curricula.

They were purposively selected as their companies or institutions had employees who graduated from Cor Jesu College from the school years 2008-2009 to 2013-2014. Interestingly, employers rated Cor Jesu College graduates the highest for their computer skills.

Results and Discussions

Teamwork is one of the most frequently mentioned qualities that employers look for in their employees (Azevedo, Apfelthaler & Hurst, 2012; Tsitskari, Goudas, Tsalouchou & Michalopoulou, 2017). It is one of the general student attributes (GSA) that schools aim to develop among students (Hassan, Zamberi, Zamberi, Khalil, Wasbari, & Kamarolzaman, 2013). It is also listed as one of the skills for a globally competitive workforce (Bates & Phelan, 2002).

It is considered one of the main transferable skills (McQuaid & Lindsay, 2005), and in their framework on employability, Hillage and Pollard (1998) and Osmani et al. However, the results of the study gave a brighter scenario with reference to KDF graduates, because research and analysis received a high rating from employers.

Conclusion

Two skills that ranked at the bottom but still received higher ratings were research and analysis and time management. So even though these two are at the bottom of the rankings, they remained very important skills as rated by the highly rated employers. These findings indicate that the school's rigid training to its students is indeed paying off.

The school must remain focused on its core values, which are important in producing graduates of good character. Although it received a very satisfactory rating, research and analysis and time management received the lowest average among the 19 skills.

Employability and the Contribution of Learned Competencies and Catholic Education in the Workplace

Employability and the Contribution of Learned Competencies and Catholic Education in the Workplace for the Graduates

Employability and contribution of learned skills and Catholic education in the workplace for graduates. The purpose of this survey is essential to the improvement of CJC's programs and services. The focus on graduates' employability is given greater weight by the higher education institutions, as the industry expects a job-ready supply on the labor market.

For example, in the United Kingdom, in addition to government oversight of employee performance, the government has also instructed higher education institutions to ensure the employability of their graduates (Knight & Yorke, 2003). This research aimed to determine the employability and the contribution of acquired competences and Catholic education in the workplace for the graduates of the Cor Jesu College.

Objectives of the Study

For example, a study in Australia revealed that the skills to “communicate, analyze and solve problems, work as a team member, solve unfamiliar problems and plan your work are the skills most needed in the labor market” (GCCA, 1999 in Levin. Therefore , this follow-up study was conducted to provide the school with reliable information about its graduates in the workplace. More specifically, it sought to answer the following questions (1.) What is the alumni profile in terms of employment status, location, designation/position, company category , finding a first job, time to first job, job-to-course ratio, and salary range?; (2.) What competencies acquired in college are helpful in the workplace; and (3.) Is their Catholic education helpful to them? in the CJC helped with their work.

The survey respondents were Cor Jesu College college alumni who graduated from the 2008–2009 to 2012– school year. Respondents were asked to display their names on the questionnaire for proper documentation and to avoid duplication in the two forms of surveys.

Results

Designation/position and the type of company where the alumni of Cor Jesu College work. How alumni find their first job and how long it takes to land that job. The relationship between first job and course taken at Cor Jesu College and the duration of staying in this job.

After graduation from Cor Jesu College, those who got a job related to the course they took at school accounted for 76.01%, while 23.99% of respondents said their first job was unrelated to their course did not. One of the most important questions asked was about the skills learned that were useful in the workplace.

Discussion

Job fairs in the school and posting on the bulletin board did not yield much based on the results of the study. In terms of the competencies learned in school that are beneficial to the respondents' workplace experience, communication skills top the list. Reading Speed and Texts Comprehension among Senior High School

Based on the researcher's classroom observation, the English teachers said that the students' reading speed and text comprehension in these schools are still low. Therefore, this study is focused on investigating the relationship between students' reading speed and reading comprehension. Furthermore, Murniasih (2012) states that reading is the activity of understanding printed materials, where the purpose of reading is to understand what the writer wants to express through printed materials.

The main purpose of reading is to get the idea or information from the written text. The purpose of reading is very important because it will affect the reading process and reading comprehension.

A reading speed test was used to determine students' reading time and students' words read per minute. Another topic is "The Black Cat", which was only used as an introductory explanation or exercise on how students pass the main test. For the speed reading test, the researcher informed the students to read one text aloud and that the number of words read would be counted. One by one, the students came to the front of the class and read the text.

In analyzing the data, the researcher gave the score of students' reading speed and students' reading comprehension. After that, the researcher calculated the students' reading comprehension using the formula: Words read per minute (WPM) × comprehension percentage score (as a decimal).

Results and Discussion

Meanwhile, student number 5 of SMAN 1 Aesesa read the text slowly and he only got a score of 116 for reading speed and 41 for reading comprehension. The previous table shows that the total score of students' reading speed is 3084, while the highest score is 201, the lowest score is 108 and the average score is 147. Based on the calculation above, it can be seen that the total score of students' reading speed is 5200, while the highest score is 244, the lowest score is 116 and the average is 173.

The results from both schools confirmed few studies venturing into the relationship between reading speed and reading comprehension. Nevertheless, the result of this study adds to the discussion whether there is indeed a relationship between reading speed and reading comprehension.
