ABSTRACT
This study w as conducted at Central Philippine University, College o f Computer Studies from July 2008 to March 2009, to determine the existing problems o f Academic A dvising procedure during enrollm ent and at the same tim e find out the effects o f the proposed SM ART Touch Academic A dvising System. Student M anagement Automated Record Teller (SM ART) Touch Panel System is a touch panel kiosk system that can m ake transactions for students o f the C ollege o f Computer Studies. Students can use the system for counseling o f subjects for the next semester. Student will select the subjects that are allowed for his/her year level based on the pre/co-requisites o f the subjects and their grades. Students can also use the system for grades inquiry. They can also print-out their grades. R ecords are updated by retrieving new records from the UCSC such as grades, schedules and student information. The general objective o f the study is to develop an im proved and faster Enrollm ent procedures and guidelines for the College o f Com puter Studies and to help ease the difficulties o f the students and faculties during enrollm ent and advising period.
The researchers used flex builder as front end and V B .N et as back end and SQL Server 2005 as the database o f the system .
The result shows that SM A RT Touch System o f College o f Com puter Studies m ade all transactions faster during academ ic advising and it is advantageous to the faculty and students’ side. It is m ore practical in using the proposed system compare to the m anual system .
