In the Musical Changes from Lanna Folksong to Folksong Khammueang with A Special Reference to Charan Manophet's works Compositions, the researcher' applies the ethnomusicology concept to field work data collection and analyzes the data along with documentary research. There are 3 research objectives, which are 1) To study and compare various components in Lanna Folksong and Folksong Khammueang of Charan Manophet 2) To analyze the role of music and musical instruments used in Lanna Folksong and Folksong Khammueang of Charan Manophet within the context of popular music 3) To study the relationship between Folksong Lanna and Folksong Khammueang *
In a comparative study with Lannafolk songs, 20 compositions of Charan Manophet are chosen. These include: 1) Noi Jai Ya 2) Se Le Mao 3) Long Mae Ping 4) MuanKanad 5) Sor Khong Pa~ng 6) Ngiaw 7) Pang Hai Pang Buea 8) Ha Ni Ba Hoei 9) Mo Hom 10) AueangPeung Chan Pa 11) NamNong 12) MuHao 13) Chao Duang Dok Mai 14) Yin Di Ton Rab 15) Aeow Sao 16) A ka yan Lanna 17) Pu Ying 18) Lanna 19) Den Dong 20) Lai Doi These are studied in terms of composition style, similarities and differences between Charan's songs and Northern Thai Folksong, and persistence of a new form of Northern Thai Folksong, which is present in Charan's songs.
Charan is the first person to uniquely change Larina Folksong into the popular music ones a simple singing approach, harmony, and wordings. All of which, using a new presentation style, makes Folksong Lanna spread into other geographical regions, making people know Lanna songs more and these become generally accepted nationwide.
