1. OPENING A MEETING

1.1 The meeting with FiAC in Koh Kong was organized by Fisheries Administration (FiA) of Cambodia on 25 November 2022, funded by SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Fisheries Refugia. The meeting was conducted at Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Koh Kong province, which was attended by 6 participants in total from Fisheries Administration and Fisheries Administration Cantonment (see Annex 1, 2 &3).

1.2 Mr. Leng Sy Vann, expressed thanks very much for Mr. Seng Bunana, Acting Head of FiAC in Koh Kong and his colleagues who allow teamwork from Department of Fisheries Conservation, FiA to meet and discuss on progressing report and the planning for closed fishing of mackerel refugia at Peam Krasob starting 01st December 2022 to 31st March 2023.

1.3 Mr. Seng Bunna welcomed teamwork from Department of Fisheries Conservation, FiA to discuss progressing report and planning for closed fishing of mackerel upcoming.

2. Discussion on progressing report done by FiAC

In 2020, 50 concrete boxes were deployed into the refugia site funded EU/Capture Fisheries Project. in 2021, 40 concrete boxes and 30 mooring buoys were deployed into refugia site funded the Department of Community Fisheries Development/FiA. In 2022, 60 concrete boxes and 4 concrete poles were installed and deployed into refugia site funded by the Department of Community Fisheries Development/FiA.

Current short mackerel status increases at Peam Krasob and those fish have been found at Chroy Pros meanwhile there have never seen in the past. In particular, Dolphin recovered and its calf have also been found there.

3. Discuss on Plan Preparation for Closing Season of Short Mackerel at Peam Krosob, Koh Kong province

FiAC collaborated with CFi to patrol during closed season of short mackerel at Peam Krasob from 01 December 2022 to 31 March 2023. Moreover, FiAC will work with provincial department of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries and provincial administration to issue a noticed letter about the closed fishing of short mackerel at Peam Krasob site.

DFC supported budgets from SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF/Fisheries Refugia Project to FiAC for patrolling and dissemination during closed time.

4. Visit Mackerel Refugia site at Peam Krasob, Koh Kong province

4.1 Teamwork from DFC, FiAC, and CFi visited mackerel refugia site at Peam Krasob, located village 1 and 2, Peam Krasob commune, Mondol Sema district, Koh Kong province, funded by SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF/Fisheries Refugia Project. In general, it is observed that the refugia site has been installed by concrete poles and mooring buoys funded by the Department of Fisheries Community Development/FiA were in 2022, with good water quality.
