The Board of Examiners has unanimously approved this dissertation submitted by Mr. Adun Udombua in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Education English Language Teaching at Mahasarakham University. Mahasarakham University has granted approval to accept this thesis in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Education English Language Teaching. The findings showed that the post-test scores of the students who learned through the implementation of the Jigsaw technique with task-based learning were higher than those who learned through the traditional approach.

INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION

However, little attention has been paid to the integration of these two teaching approaches to improve students' reading comprehension, and this is the main objective of the current research. Reading comprehension refers to the ability to identify the topic, main idea, supporting details, main character, other characters, setting, and summary of the passage. Jigsaw technique refers to one of the approaches to cooperative learning, which divides students into groups.

Finally, a group member returns to the original group to share the information about the allocated part to peers. It is related to identifying the topic, main idea, supporting details, main character, other characters, setting and summary of the passage. It includes the statement of the problems, the significance of the study, objectives and research questions.

This includes the participants of the study, research design, research instruments, data collection, data analysis and statistics used in the study.

LITERATURE REVIEW LITERATURE REVIEW

Reading is fundamental to developing language skills and expanding vocabulary. Lexical comprehension means that students are able to understand the central vocabulary of the text. Students can complete the related activity in the Jigsaw group to find the main idea of the text.

Morales and Campino (2012) also examined the effects of the Jigsaw technique on the reading skills of eleventh grade students. Overall, a number of previous studies have assessed the impact of the Jigsaw technique and TBL on reading comprehension. The aim was to help students understand the main idea and details of the text.

In phase 6: the instruments were revised based on the information obtained from the evaluation of the pilot study. At the end of the lesson, a questionnaire was administered to investigate how the Jigsaw technique affects students' reading comprehension ability. Finally, a semi-structured interview was conducted to ask students in the experimental group about their opinion on the use of the Jigsaw technique affecting students' reading skills.

RESULTS

As such, these tasks may not be the most effective in helping students identify the components of the passage. I knew the title, idea and ending of the passage about pollution when friends shared the whole passage…”. They worked together in groups to find parts of the passage tasks and then presented what they had learned.

According to the results of the research, it can be concluded that students who learned using the Jigsaw technique and task-based learning achieved significant English reading comprehension. Once taken, they may face difficulties in identifying the components of the read passage. In the same way, students were able to identify the main character, other characters, the action and the summary of the passage by completing the puzzle tasks.

Students identified the setting of the passage by finding the main place where the events took place. The students pointed out that the conclusion of the passage is related to the whole understanding of the passage. 2013) studied the improvement of the learners' reading comprehension using Jigsaw. Moreover, based on the Jigsaw task, it has been shown that learning from small scale of the passage to the entire passage leads students to gain higher reading comprehension.

Additionally, they learned how to identify the components of the passage again during this phase. Thus, the students gained more understanding of the passage and they could complete the task more easily in the next class. In summary, according to the effects of the two teaching techniques, students were able to read and understand the passage starting from a part of the passage.

The jigsaw task, which was to identify the components of the passage, played an important role in helping students understand the passages. As a result, most students gained more understanding of the passage and they scored higher on the post-test.

Then, a teacher has a group member return to the original group to share the information about the assigned unit with their peers in the original group. Finally, a teacher has each group of students complete the puzzle task, identifying the topic and main idea. A teacher gives students time to plan how they will present the completed tasks.

A teacher selects the groups to present the tasks using video that is randomly made by the teacher. Students brainstorm to plan how they will present their tasks to the class.

Structure

Every form of pollution has two causes; the point and non-point sources. The point sources are easy to identify, monitor and control, while the non-point sources are difficult to control. It is the most common and dangerous form of pollution and is mainly believed to go hand in hand with urbanization.

This releases a large number of chemicals into the air which are far removed from it. In addition to direct dependencies, more than 60% of species live in some form of water. Soil pollution, also known as soil pollution, occurs due to the incorporation of unwanted chemicals into the soil due to human activities.

The use of insecticides and pesticides absorbs the nitrogen compounds from the soil, making it unsuitable for plants to obtain nutrition from it. Since plants cannot grow properly, they cannot hold the soil and this leads to soil erosion. Noise pollution occurs when a sound with a higher intensity than 85 dB reaches our naked ears.

Even weddings and rock music concerts are often overlooked factors that contribute to this type of pollution. Environmental pollution causes great distress not only to humans, but also to animals, many animal species are endangered and even extinct. The transboundary nature of environmental pollution makes it even more difficult to control.

This releases a myriad of chemicals into the air that are far from being removed from it. Instructions: Each group must complete a Jigsaw task based on the information you have studied.

Direction: Read the following passages and then answer the questions based on the information in the passage. If they don't dry, the metal will react to the oxygen in the air and rust. You can even go full circle and turn your liquid smoothie into a solid by turning it into popsicles in the freezer.

Learning Objectives: Students will be able to read the passage about the state of food and answer the questions correctly (students will be able to identify main character, other characters, setting, and summary of the passage). Water, wind and ice slowly form the Earth's surface and constantly move around us. Activity just below the surface of the Earth's crust causes rapid changes in the shape of the land – which is where we encounter volcanoes, landslides and earthquakes.

Glaciers, huge, very old formations made of water, earth and ice, can even change the size and shape of the oceans. Think of a windy beach, how sand from the beach is carried towards the dunes or, depending on the behavior of the wind, how the sand from the dunes is carried further away from the beach. Plate motion is one of the major forces changing the location and shape of continents and oceans: large changes that we cannot detect and that occur gradually over millions of years.

Water, wind and ice slowly form the Earth's surface and constantly move around us. In winter, milk and other refrigerated products can be stored outside, but in summer food often spoils. Electricity is used to pump the water from the well and into the pipes of the house.

Savannah isn't sure yet if she wants to live in the country or the city when she grows up. However, I like to be in the city, where I can go bowling or skating, or see my friends.
