It was an honor to earn his trust to provide opportunity and give me the ability to successfully proceed with selecting it for presentation in the conference held in Bangkok, Thailand on November 12, 2016 of "The 5th Annual international conference on consumer research and marketing, Frontiers of theory, method and practice". Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as "the ability to live safely, independently and comfortably in one's own home and community, regardless of age, income or ability level. For the easier life of both seniors and caregivers, portable devices for the elderly can be one of the options.
Majority of the seniors were positive towards video surveillance system if the recorded image only shows shadows in the cameras, which makes seniors anonymous. The moderator then briefly described the topic and objectives of the interview session as well as the rules for the interview. The research was conducted on 25 independently living adults between the ages of 60 and 85, fourteen women and eleven men, who were targeted as the primary users of aging in-home health monitoring technologies.
Participants first had to be aware of the definition of "aging at home" followed by information on health monitoring technologies currently available in the US. The first section was to ask about the feeling of aging in place starting from the current living environment and every day. activities, awareness of the term "aging at home" and the necessary components in the participants' perspective to age happily at home. In the second section, the perception and concerns of using health monitoring technologies were discussed.
In the first group, there were eleven men and fourteen elderly women who are potential users of technologies for monitoring aging at home. In the second part of the questionnaire, as preparation for aging at home, it asks about the individual views of older adults and families on what constitutes successful aging at home. None of the grown children even talk about house keeping, where it is the lowest ranking for seniors.
Willingness to use health monitoring 25
The fact that it is related to the usable space of the house and investor needs, the participants are asked to calculate from the comfort variant functions such as lighting, heating, blinds/air conditioning and sensing to detect falls and vital signs over an area of 200 square. meter. I have diabetes, I know the Apple Watch has a glucose monitoring (CGM) app, but I don't know if I should buy it.” But they underestimate that it would be impossible to implement in Thailand in the near future.
Their concerns are about the safety of the robot and the complexity of using this technology, including maintenance. I don't think Thailand is capable of using a robot to be so close to a human. It seems unsafe and unbelievable, something inaccessible.” As for the smart home sensing technology, it is considered an option that they can implement and allow them to live their daily life with one touch.
However, their concerns are similar to those of the robot when it comes to maintaining smart home technology, including the backup system when the smart system fails and how the system stores security and processing of personal data. Some female seniors are questioning the activities for which smart solutions cannot be applied, such as cooking meals that are considered mandatory to stay alive. The loneliness resulting from living alone in the high-tech environment and the costs of implementing smart solutions in the home are still the biggest concerns.
If my kids know I can live alone, they'll only use Facetime for me.”

Almost all seniors want to live out their lives in the home they have come to know and love. Some of the issues are obvious, such as higher medical costs and lack of funding for Medicare and Social Security. They have a strong need to feel connected and to be an important part of the family and society.
Unlike the grandparents of the past who live with their sons or daughters, sit on the front porch in a rocker and watch the grandchildren play on the lawn, grandma and grandpa still travel the world, go out on Saturdays, dance at the senior center on Thursday nights, and volunteer work in the local food kitchen. Outdoor tasks included mowing the lawn or painting the exterior of the home, pest control and roof replacement. In addition, there are sometimes hidden costs of aging in place, which are not able to foresee, since none of the technologies currently exist in the country.
Cost-effectiveness studies of health monitoring technology will contribute to the ongoing development of new technology, and costs may vary. To implement some technology in the life of the elderly, awareness of the benefit of the technology and training how to use and adjust the technology themselves are key points to make them comfortable in using the technology because it will be with them every day. 24/7. However, their assessment of privacy may be partially related to the usefulness of the technology and the sensitivity of the activity being collected.
The result shows that the participants are quite concerned about the ease of use of the device, in addition to the need for new technology training. When looking at the IT experiences of the participants, the result surprisingly revealed that most of the participants with computer experience mention this issue as a concern. Regarding the consequences of the use of technology, together with the effectiveness of such technologies, possible negative effects on their personal health are mentioned, for example the frequency of radio waves.
Another strength is also evident in the extraction of insight information from qualitative research, which not only interviews seniors who are technology users, but also includes family perspectives. These research results support the articles about the privacy concerns of seniors. Adult children's perceptions of future planning for their own aging are not addressed in the study.
SUMMARY 37
- USEFULNESS OF THE RESEARCH 38
- SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH 39
To establish the role of technology for aging in its proper context, one must consider the fundamental goals and prerequisites of implementing any particular technology approach for a safe and secure environment designed for older people living independently in the community. On the other hand, people may feel insecure about adopting these new technologies. Future research may be more focused on examining how a health monitoring system could provide safer and long-term reductions in health care costs.
The future research can be further on the study of how the health monitoring system could provide safer and able to reduce the medical costs in the long run.
