Social Responsibility

Not only for the companies must respect the nature, but they must lead the other stakeholders especially implant their employees to concern and show the great respect of social responsibility also. They therefore manage their business in a transparent manner using ethical means to gain and maintain investor confidence and maintain their corporate reputation. Rhineland leadership" and "Honeybee leadership" are very successful for practices in developed countries, but in other developing countries such as Thailand, these 2 approaches are even less applied to the organization.

There are researchers who apply these two approaches to the organizations in Thailand in different companies. Most of the organizations they select to adopt these two approaches are large and reputable; Theptarin Hospital, Siam Cement group, the conglomerate, bathroom design company, Sa Paper Preservation House, True Corporation and Mahidol University.

Siam Cement Group (SCG)

Bathroom Design company

Thailand’s True Corp

It offers a wide range of products and services by grouping them to suit consumers' lifestyles and income levels. These do not lead to short-term benefits or profits for the company, but provide the benefits for all stakeholders in a long-term perspective. It realizes that an investment in human capital will help the company prosper in the long term.

It also allows employees to make mistakes and encourages them to put their creative ideas into practice. In addition, the company provides a reward for employees who come up with innovative ideas, which are adopted by the company as part of their annual performance evaluation. These four Cs reflect what people at True Corporation do, say and think when they interact with stakeholders.

True Corporation has allocated an annual budget for its CSR activities because social responsibility is a core value of the company.

The Conglomerate

Training and development programs are provided to employees at all levels to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities. It also maintains an ethical attitude towards its customer stakeholders, as its motto is "The customer is always right". The company invests in many long-term dimensions such as culture, product and service quality, society and environment, uncertainty and change management.

In addition, he has long-term thinking about succession planning for top management, including the CEO. The company's innovation culture encourages employees to be open-minded, think outside the box, be decisive, take risks and learn. It also encourages them to exchange and share knowledge among employees to create mutual relationships and build a strong organizational culture.

The company's ethical principles and focus on social responsibility are very evident in many aspects of the business, along with their concern for other stakeholders beyond shareholders.

Sa Paper Preservation House

So his former boss (CEO) personally coached him through on-the-job training, and the former boss always made sure he sat in front of him in meetings. All employees are entitled to training with a budget of approx. US$16.5 million allocated to lower-level staff training, and it has never been cut for short-term purposes. Sa Paper Preservation House's organizational culture is very strong with employees who share visions, values and beliefs, made possible by its no layoff practice and low employee turnover rate.

Knowledge and innovation are remarkable not only in the products, but also organizational processes to overcome obstacles. The company has paid attention to a wide range of stakeholders and shows great respect and care for social and environment. It believes that the business cannot exist in the community where people do not have a good quality of life.

Thailand’s oldest university

The university champions growth innovation and maintains a record of strongest research performance. The University has focused on professionalizing its management processes using innovation to increase the quality of staff skills and knowledge. From the previous studies above, it showed that Rhineland and Honeybee Leadership are successful to be practiced in Thailand.

It is very beneficial for a Thai company to apply these principles to the long-term management of organizations. Since sustainable management has gained support in Thailand as an approach to ensure corporate sustainability, and no study has been conducted on the Thai shipping industry, this study adopts honeybee management as a framework to investigate a company's business practices in the proposed industry to determine if they are consistent with Honeybee management. Recommendations will also be given to improve business practices to make business more sustainable.

METHODOLOGY

You see the potential for long-term growth with the employee's company, right? Do you think that all employees in the company have the opportunity to be promoted to a higher position, right? Can you give me an example of a situation that shows that the CEO is not the main decision maker in the company.

Organizational change CEO - - Is the company ready to handle change in the future. Can you show me the picture of the company in your mind in the next 10-20 years. Employees - - If employees leave the company, do you think it will have an effect on the knowledge aspect within the company.

Even if laying off their employees would be a better financial move on behalf of the company. Ensuring that the company and employees cross the hurdle together, creating employee loyalty and commitment. The company will give its employees an opportunity to grow and climb to higher positions, choosing from their passing performances and skills.

All employees of the company will have a chance to get advice on the career ladder depending on their job. The process involves the company investing time and money to improve the company's employees and show that the company sees their long-term potential and growth. From the employee statement, the company tries to provide more for all employees than general welfare, with consideration towards its employees.

The company always treats them with trust, respect and honesty and wants them to show these values to customers.

Long- or short-term perspective

So we will learn more about new laws and regulations that pertain to AEC to support our clients. Its employees can be the consultant for the customers to support them when they have the questions and the problems about the new laws and regulations that come into effect from the changes. So they need to update their knowledge and prepare themselves in advance to deal with it.

Financial markets orientation: N/A

The company encourages its employees to volunteer to help others or make a profit for themselves. In the future, there are plans to participate in larger community projects such as cleaning the temple or paying tribute to the orphans and the disabled. This vision is the framework for all employees to be a guideline so that they can grow up in the company.

I always share my vision with employees to be the guide for them to grow in the right way to make them and the company succeed together." Apparently, most of the employees in the company share the same view with the company's vision. Most of the decision will come from the agreement of the top level employees (CEO and manager in each department).

In addition, when the company wants to determine the excursion, they are the main force to choose the place and create the activities to join together.

Self-management

  • Long-term perspective
  • Staff development
  • Organizational culture
  • Innovation
  • Social responsibility
  • Ethical behavior

Company policies allow employees to make decisions in some cases that do not have a critical impact on the company. We will not pass it by and offend the employees because we know it will bring the big problem to the company.” I have confidence in my colleague and I think that more than 70% of the employees in the company have confidence in their colleagues.

In the event that customers' needs are very high and it does not affect the business too much, we will provide it to them as our standard to keep our customers”. If they can provide more good services to customers, customers will be satisfied and trust the company's service and come back to use their service again. The company treats its employees with trust, respect and sincerity and wants its employees to demonstrate these values to customers.

It always serves customers with the service mindset that is the company's core value.

Recommendations

Therefore, here are some recommendations that we will use to develop the company and lead it to corporate sustainability. A company should think and plan for people who will become leaders in the future. But this element should be persistently implemented in order to lead the company to a more sustainable management.

Third, the company should encourage its employees to make the decision and teach them to learn from their mistakes. And the company should make the small meeting room available so that they can brainstorm ideas in their team. The company must lead the employees to initiate the environmental and community beneficial projects more than just donating money to the temples and charities.

In addition, the company should manage some working time for its employees to carry out socially responsible activities, such as caring for orphans every Wednesday during working hours and helping to build schools in remote areas (Kantabutra, 2012).
