Chapter 5: Discussion and Conclusions
5.3 Limitations of the Study
This study mentions that it is very difficult to improve the problem of inequality in medical resources in terms of the status in Taiwan; therefore, we suggest that future research can aim at improving accessibility to increase medical utilization or
improving public facilities in remote areas to improve medical efficiency. From this study, it can be seen that Hsinchu County and Hualien County have become efficient
49
areas after considering the technical gap due to inefficiency. Therefore, it is speculated that the cause may be the result of public construction. It is suggested that future studies can be conducted discussion of the two regions to find out the correct reasons for this situation. Although the distribution of medical resources in Taiwan is not
uniform, the efficiency of the city is not necessarily better than that of the countryside.
Subsequent research can be conducted on this subject in depth.
In addition, the utilization of medical resources from cross-regional is also one of the important factors affecting medical utilization. However, the source of the
research data is limited and it is difficult to obtain this data. We suggest that future research can be included in this project for investigation. This study only discusses a single year in 2016. Subsequent studies can explore the efficiency of medical
utilization in Taiwan for a long period of consecutive years, and discuss the reasons for improving efficiency and medical utilization based on the results.
