Journey to the West
Class 202Scene I
(Narrator): During the reign of Emperor Taizung in Tan Dynasty, something weird is happening in Capital city Chan-ang. People of different ages are getting bald.
Taizung: (sigh) We, the Tang Empire, has been the strongest country in the world.
People used to live a peaceful life but now, we seem to be cursed!
Everyone, including me, is getting bald and panicky. (looking up into the sky) Oh, God! Will the empire collapse in my hands?
(A man gives Taizung a roll letter)
Taizung: There is magical water in the Wes Kingdom and it can cure the bizarre epic in your country. But only a truly brave and intelligent man can get it. A monk, Xuenzang, is strongly recommended.
(asking the man) You, call for Xuenzang as soon as possible.
(Xuenzang shows up on the stage)
Taizung: (holding Xuenzang’s hands) Master Xuenzang, please save our country.
Only you can take such a tough mission to the West Kingdom.
Xuenzang: Your majesty, as a Buddhist, I’ve practice mercy whole my life. I shall save the suffering people and go on the journey to the West Kingdom.
Taizung: It’s full of dangers on the journey. To help you successfully finish the task, I appoint my pet TED to help and accompany you (give Xuenzang a magical Ball with TED inside)
Xuenzang: Thank you, your majesty. (facing the audience) This is definitely the most challenging journey I have taken, but this is my destiny and I must get the treatment back to save people…阿密陀佛…
Scene II
(Narrator) Xuenzang starts his journey to the West Kingdom. Suddenly, two monsters appeared!
Monster 1: This is robbery! Hand out your money!
Monster 2: Hey, don’t do that! You may frighten him. (turning to Xuenzang). Give me
Your money!
(Lightning goes to the monsters, then Guan-yin appears with Picachu) Xuenzang: Who…who are you?
Guanyin: I’m Guan-yin that people worship. I came to tell you that you will be facing 202 difficulties on your journey to the west and you can’t overcome them
by yourself. Go find three followers and they will help you on the way.
Xuenzang: But how do I know who are they and where to meet them?
Guanyin: Don’t worry. Just start your trip and things will get clear. (Guanyin leaves five magical balls and retreats from the stage)
(Narrator): Few days later, Xuenzang arrives at Mountain Wuxing.
Wukong: You, stinky old man. Get me out of here!
Xuenzang: Poor creature. Why are you trapped under the mountain?
Wukong: A goddess said I have to escort a monk to the West Kingdom. She trapped me here to wait for the stupid monk! Let me out!
(Xuenzang throws a magical ball. Wukong jumps aside) You look tough. Now try this! (throws the magical ball containing Bear)
Bear: I’m dirty Bear!
Xuenzang: TED, use double bear slapping.
Wukong: Hum, is that all you’ve got? Try my iron tail.
(Narrator): Wukong is weak now so his skills fail)
Xuenzang: TED, use chocolate bar attacks now! (Bear attacks, Wukong faints, Xuenzang throws a magical ball and conquers Wukong)
What’s your name?
Wukong: I’m the king of Huaguoshan.
Xuenzang: Will you go to the West Kingdom with me?
Wukong: No! I’m the king that gives orders. Why should I listen to you and join your journey to the West Kingdom? (turns around, and sees Bear waving his chocolate bars, Wukong kneels down) Master, I would surely follow you.
Xuenzang: All right. From now on, you are named Wukong and get up, let’s go on the journey.
Scene III.
(Narrator) Few days later, Xuenzang and Wukong arrives at an inn near the Quicksand River.
Wukong: Mum, I sense some strange atmosphere…there must be something wrong here. (Go to the Boss Gau, who looks obviously sad) Hello, we gonna stay overnight. Any vacant room?
Gau: Of course, there have been no passengers recently because…(shed tears) Where’s your destination?
Wukong: We are going to the West Kingdom on mission. My master is the greatest monk ever lives. He has precious weapons that can kick bad guys, even the evilest monsters….
Gau: (Kneels down, begging) Oh, master, please save my daughter. Two monsters
will take her away later. They are coming later at night.
Xuenzang: What? This is serious. Wukong, we must help them.
Wukong: I’ve come up with a good idea! Master, I can handle this. (enters the room, put on a wig and pretends to be Ms. Gau)
Zhubajie: Hey hey hey, I’m coming, my sweetie.
Shawujing: Come on, babie.
Zhubajie: You bald, she is mine.
Shawujing: You fatty, she belongs to me. (fighting with Zhubajie) (Wukong summons TED)
TED: I’m dirty Bear. (takes out a chocolate stick)
Wukong: TED, use a punch of million tons to attack them!!!
Zhubajie &Shawuking: Please stop it. We shall be your servants. Don’t kill us. We just want to find some pleasure on the boring days waiting for a monk.
Xuenzang: A monk?
Shawujing: A goddess required us to stay by the river awaiting a monk and then escort him to the West Kingdom. Aren’t you….
Xuenzang: (smiles) Yes, I’m the one you’re waiting for. Come and join our journey.
From now on you will be called Wuneng and you Wujing.
(Narrator): Now, they continue with their jouney.

Zhubajie: Master, I’m tired! Can we take a rest somewhere?
Wukong: You the fat pig! Always wanna rest, aren’t you afraid of getting…
Xuenzang: Wukong, that’s ok. Let’s find a place and have a short break.
Shawujing: Master, master, there’s a cave in the front! Let’s go there (They enter the cave. R appears, following Team Rocket.) Xuenzang: Who are you?
Jesse: Prepare for trouble.
James: Make it double.
Jesse: To protect the world from devastation.
James: To unite all peoples within our nations.
Jesse: To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James: To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jesse: Jesse.
James: James.
Jesse: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.
James: Surrender now or prepare to fight.
Cat: Mewoth, that’s right!
Xuenzang: Team Rocket? What’s that?
Jesse: Who come you don’t know who we are!!
James: Forget about it. It doesn’t matter. They can live no longer after all. Besides, I want that bear. It seems to be a great pocket monster.
Jesse: Extra super great! (fight with Xuenzang’s followers) Xuenzang: That was really a tough battle.
Wukong: Master, this ship is amazing! We shall go to West Kingdom by it.
