A Civil Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering , University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado, USA, 1979 Followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, , University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado, USA, 1983.
Has an Academic Experience as A Faculty Member at the College of Engineering at the University of U.A.E, Al-Ain, as a teaching Assistant 1980 – 1988. Joined Dubai Municipality in 1989 and held several positions such as, Assistant Director General for Environment &Public Health Affairs December 2003 to Nov 2009. Then as, Assistant Director General for General Support Sector Nov .2009 to Dec 2012

Prof. Adnan Abdul-Aziz Gutub is currently working as the Vice Dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute of the Hajj & Omrah Research, Known publicly as Hajj Research Institute (HRI), within Umm Al Qura University (UQU), Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Adnan‘s research experience involved cryptography, steganography and computer security applications & VLSI architectures. His research interest in computing and information technology have been broaden to also relate to smart crowd management and intelligent transportation engineering systems because of the involvement in Hajj and Omrah Research at UQU - Makkah. He is currently leading the research at HRI to benefit from data visualization, analysis and interaction for different real applications. Administratively, Prof. Adnan Gutub filled many executive and managerial academic positions starting at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) then UQU. At KFUPM - Dhahran, he had the experience of chairing the Computer Engineering department (COE) for five years until moving to Makkah in 2010. Then, at UQU - Makkah, Adnan Chaired the Information Systems Department at the College of Computer & Information Systems followed by his leadership of the Center of Research Excellence in Hajj and Omrah (HajjCoRE) serving as HajjCoRE director for around 3-years until the end of 2013. Then, he was assigned his current position as the Vice Dean of HRI, i.e. the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute of the Hajj & Omrah Research.

Professor Mohammed Omar is the founding chair for the Department of Engineering Systems and Management at Masdar Institute, and the director of the Institute center for Smart and Sustainable Systems iSmart, and the Editor-in- Chief of the Journal of Material Science Research. Prior to joining MI, Dr. Omar served as a Graduate coordinator, an associate professor and as a founding faculty for the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research CU-ICAR in Greenville SC, and the US Department of Energy GATE center of excellence.
