Circular

Subject: Banks’ Business hours during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr for 1434H

Pursuant to Article Sixteen (16) of the Banking Control Law regarding determination of banks’ holidays and business hours, SAMA requests compliance with the following:

First: Banks’ daily business hours for dealing with the public during Ramadan 1434H shall be from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.

Second: Saudi Arabian Riyal Interbank Express (SARIE)’s operating hours during Ramadan shall be from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M., and from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Thursdays.

Third: The working hours for SARIE System during Ramadan will close at the end of the business day, Tuesday 29/9/1434H (6/8/2013G). Its daily working hours will be from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M., and clearing houses will be operating during the working days and hours of SARIE.

Fourth: Taking into consideration the provisions of Item “Third” above, Eid Al-Fitr holiday starts at the end of the business day, Monday 28/9/1434H (5/8/2013G) and ends on Monday 5/10/1434H (12/8/2013G).

Banks will resume their work on Tuesday 6/10/1434H (according to Umm Al-Qura Calendar) (13/8/2013G) .

Fifth: SAMA emphasizes that it is important for banks to keep a number of their branches operating in populous and crowded areas, in places where the need arises to deal with banks, and in various airports and border outlets to work during Eid Al-Fitr holiday. We hope that names and working hours of such branches be informed to SAMA and published to the public by appropriate means.
