SY NO P SIS

This course provides intermediate level Windows Operating System concepts. It provides hands on

experience for how to excel in using a Windows interface, e.g. different ways to run a program, controlling the appearance of the desktop, managing files, perform disk maintenance operations, using help topics, searching for information, installing hardware/ software, using administrative tools etc. Also, this course helps the students to prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exam with this official Microsoft study guide to work at their own pace through the lessons and hands-on exercises.

After completing the course, students should be able to:

Perform boot-up and shutdown procedures on the computer.

Operate and utilize the on-screen, desktop menus

Use start button to explore the menu tree of Windows

Learn the details anatomy of a window

Learn how to use the taskbar and how to customize it

Learn how to use the help utility to obtain information

Learn how to use Window explorer to organize files and folders

Create desktop shortcuts and startup programs

ASS ESSM EN T B RE A K DO WN & P O LICY Students’ assessments in this course are based on the following:

1) Carry Marks

Assignments 10%

Mid-Semester Examination 40%

Quizzes (4 best/6) 10%

Forums 5%

2) Final Examination 35 %

TOTAL 100%

Carry marks will be given before or on Week 14.

AT TE ND AN CE P O LICY

Students with ZERO absence(physically present on time, no exception) will be upgraded to the next grade, if passed.

Registration to a course and dropping procedure is a student’s responsibility

The proof of registration should be shown in the first class

The students are expected to be in class from the beginning of class.

Those who come in the class within 10 minutes (but after attendance taken) are considered LATE

After ten (10) minutes the students are marked absent

After three weeks equivalent absence, a grade of “DN” (Denied) will be issued

Proof of valid reasons for absences will be verified and processed by college administration after receiving DN

It's responsibility of the student to keep the record of his absences.

Electronic devices must be turned off during all class and Lab times. Otherwise he may be asked to leave class and will be marked absent.

STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY

Students accept full responsibility for ensuring that work does not suffer from absence.

The devices in the Lab must not be used for any other activities and/or in any other ways than that which is explained by the instructor

Students are required to bring pen, notebook, textbook, one flash memory (min 20 MB) in the class

During tests no external devices are allowed.

If there is any student in this class who has special needs because of learning disabilities or other disabilities, please discuss these needs with your instructor or please contact Course Coordinator

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The course will be taught using online activities through an LMS, multimedia presentation, Whiteboard etc
