STUDENT COMPETITION

DESIGN FOR

FUTURE HIGHER EDUCATION

OVERVIEW

The competition offers an open platform for students to actively participate in developing creative ideas to promote innovative applications, practices, and solutions in education.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Full-time UoS students who are enrolled for the current academic year. Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply.

The innovative project/idea can be developed individually or as a team work.

The team members should not exceed 5 students.

The project must be new and originally developed by the participants.

Problem Awareness - The design/project should address a real problem.

Innovation - The design/project should be original with innovative concepts based on scientific and pedagogical theories.

Integration of Technologies - The

design/project should consider technology integration that supports future teaching and learning.

Community Impact - The design/project should address future educational issues

thereby positively impacting the UoS, local, and regional community.

Application Prospect - The design can be adapted and can be developed into startups.

Poster Presentation - Logical organization of material, clarity of graphics, legends, and supporting documentation displayed.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Thursday, April 20th, 2023

Deadline submission of the design/project Thursday, February 23rd, 2023

The closing date for the registration Thursday, January 19th, 2023 Launching and registration

Thursday, April 27th, 2023 Exhibition and award ceremony

PRIZES

All participant(s) will be given a “Certificate of Participation”.

10,000 AED 1st

8,000 AED 2nd

6,000 AED 3rd

POTENTIAL THEMES

The themes of the competition include but not limited to the following topics:

AI & Education Metaverse, VR & AR Inclusive Education Design/Use of Learning Space

Innovative Business Model

Mobile Education &

Games

Innovative Social Practice

The final exhibition will be held on campus and participants will be provided with a booth to exhibit their work.

Proof of Concept/ Originality – This can be in a form of a video explanation to

demonstrate the design, mockup, prototype, or minimal viable product.

Report & A1 poster ( 841x594mm) that provides a summary explaining the innovative idea and solution.
