ABSTRACT

The current project consists of two buildings. It is design of reinforced concrete structure for residential villa and celebration hall by three systems, hollow block, paneled beam and solid slab system. The design started from step of loads calculations followed by the design of slabs, beams, columns, and foundations. AutoCAD software has been used as a drawing tool. The two buildings floors have been designed using two statical systems, solid slabs and paneled beams. The Saudi Code has been considered in the design procedures using SAP2000 software. The outcomes of the design have been taken out as drawing plan layouts including the details of reinforcement of different structure elements. At the end of the report, there are general recommendations to enhance future senior project in the Collage and to enhance future senior project of KAU engineering students.

CEN 499 SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT 2017 - 18 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

There were many gained skills throughout the steps of the project design. The responsibilities of the civil engineer, teamwork and reading and writing of technical reports are some of these skills. The gained knowledge through five years of studying, analysis and design of the structure systems have been applied. Such knowledge enabled us to know how to calculate loads, how to use different design codes and finally how to use software programs in analysis. The required objectives are achieved by designing safe and economic structure elements of both design projects. It is recommended to consider different load conditions as wind and earthquakes loads for high rise buildings and other structural systems in such R.C. senior design projects.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the structural design project are to:

1. Achieve the required safety with maximum economy within the architectural and structural requirements .

2. Safety has been maintained according to the requirements of the High standards international codes and Saudi Code.

3. Allow the team members to gain the necessary skills to design different structural systems under different load conditions independently.

4. Get the way to work as a team.
