Brief Bio:
Dr. Zeenat Mirza has joined King Fahd Medical Research Centre in December 2011 and is part of the team responsible to set up the Proteomics and Structural Biology Unit. She is also a part of the KFMRC Journal Launch Committee. Before joining here she was working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi (From April 2009 to December 2011) after completion of Doctoral research at Department of Biophysics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, the premier most Medical and Research Institution of India. During this period she got experience in the exciting field of structural biology and got familiar with Protein purification, X-ray crystallography, Structure determination and Refinement and Bioinformatic Analysis. She was mainly working with amyloid beta peptides of Alzheimer’s Disease, on venom proteins and few other proteins in synergy. She has five structures deposited in the RCSB’s Protein Data Bank. She has dual Masters first in Biotechnology and the second one in Bioinformatics both from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and also qualified the national level competitions of CSIR-SRF, CSIR-UGC JRF/ Net twice, ICMR JRF and GATE. Her Masters dissertations were in PCR-SSCP based Mutational Analysis of Gastric Cancer and Proteomics of Multiple Sclerosis respectively.
