Consumer Price Index Goes up by 0.82% in the Third Quarter 2012
The Overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the United Arabs Emirates (U.A.E) reached 116.91 in the third quarter 2012, and compared with its 2007 base year (2007=100), the average increase of prices amount to 0.82% compared with the third quarter 2011.

The findings of average consumer price for the third quarter 2012 indicate increases in the following major expenditure groups:
• Restaurants and Hotels + 6.18%
• Education + 4.50%
• Food and soft drinks + 4.35%
• Beverages and tobacco + 3.88%
• Textiles, clothing and footwear + 1.10%
• Medical care + 0.82%
• Furniture and household goods + 0.78%
• Miscellaneous goods and services + 0.75%
• Recreational and cultural + 0.40%
• Transportation + 0.23%
• Communications + 0.05%
At the same time, there were decreases in other major expenditure groups including:
• Housing - 1.59%

The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) reached 117.39 in September 2012, and with comparison with the base year (2007 =100); it increase by 0.46% compared to its value at the end of August 2012, while it increased by 1.05%
compared to its value at the end of September 2011.

The findings of the CPI September 2012 at the national level indicate increases in the following major expenditure groups:
• Education 5.90%
• Food and Soft Drinks 1.62%
• Recreation and culture 0.94%
• Miscellaneous goods and services 0.59%
• Furniture and household goods 0.41%
• Health 0.07%
• Transportation 0.01%
At the same time, there were decreases in other major expenditure groups:
• Housing - 0.42%
• Textiles, clothing and footwear - 0.20%
