CONSUMER PRICE INDEX

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the average price changes in a fixed basket of consumption goods and services commonly purchased by the National and
non-National households over time. It is commonly used as a measure of consumer price inflation.
The weighting pattern for the 2014 -based CPI was derived from the expenditure values collected in the Household Expenditure Survey (HES), which was conducted, from June 2014 to May 2015
The report recorded a slight rise in the general index of October 2017 by 0.97% compared to September 2017

The prices of housing, water, electricity and gas has increased in October 2017 compared to the previous month.
A slight rise in food and beverages group by 0.73% is attributed to increase in energy and soft drinks prices during October 2017.
Rise in fuel prices was the main factor in pushing the prices of the transportation group up.
