- Objectives
1. Summary of main learning outcomes for students enrolled in the course.
The goal of this course is to enable the graduate students to acquire the clinical skills required for handling patients in the dental clinic including Medically compromised patients. By the end of this course the students should demonstrate competence in the performance and/or
interpretation of the Following:
Taking and recording patient’s history
Performing extra-oral and intra-oral clinical examination
Evaluation of patient’s health status with emphasis on medical conditions of actual or potential significance in the management of dental patients
Applications of appropriate supplementary diagnostic procedures (radiographs, biopsy and laboratory tests…. ) and interpretation of the obtained information
Organization and evaluation of the information obtained from patient’s history, clinical examination and other diagnostic procedures to conclude an appropriate list of diagnostic impressions (both dental and medical impressions)
Formulation of a preliminary sequential treatment plan.
2. Briefly describe plans for developing and improving the course that are being implemented. (eg increased use of IT or web based
reference material , changes in content a result of new research in the field ).
Updating the course contents according to the novel achievements in the oral diagnosis field.
Assessment form will be distributed to students by the end of each course to get their feedback.
Frequent division meetings will discuss the course with the course coordinator.
The report from the division will be discussed in a departmental
meeting to find the strength and weaknesses related to the course.
The dental school must demonstrate the effectiveness of the program using a formal & ongoing outcome assessment &
include measures of student achievement
Encourage students of IT use or web based reference material in preparing the topics of the active learning classes ( regarding medically compromised patients )
