The annual report for the academic year 1438/1439 H

Praise be to Allah and prayers and peace be upon his prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

On behalf of the faculty members and staff working in the preparatory year in Al Jouf University I welcome all the students and I wish them a successful academic year full of achievements.

Dear students I would like to remind you that your country is waiting for you to continue the process of construction and development which was started by our ancestors and grandparents.

You are the generation of the future, and your country will spare no effort in preparing you intellectually and scientifically so as to become qualified and bear responsibilities, this can be achieved only if everyone specializes and works in the right place in which he can succeed. Choosing the right path is the beginning and foundation of success.

Most of us have hopes and aspirations emanating from oneself or family and this is something legitimate - the beginning of success is a dream planted within a person, but this dream must be put according to the different abilities of the student so that it can be achieved, wishful thinking, without a will, is a kind of daydreaming and I don't want you to wish without strong will and determination to achieve your dreams into reality.

Hence the idea of establishing the preparatory year came, through which the student discovers his abilities, tendencies and goals, and chooses the specialization without any pressure from the family or the community and friends. Therefore, the result will be success and excellence in any field that the student specializes in.

(7)

The annual report for the academic year 1438/1439 H Deanship

I remind you that success is not limited to a profession or specialization; the country needs everyone regardless of the type of job or specialization as long as the person possesses the knowledge, skill and excellence, he will find the path of success widely open. The time has come for us to change our thinking, concepts and our culture about success – we should change our culture towards some professions, especially manual and vocational work.

The preparatory year also aims to provide the student with the skills that help him to complete his university career such as communication skills, thinking skills, learning skills, research skills, computer skills, time management skills and adherence to regulations, instructions and other skills acquired during the preparatory year.

In conclusion, I can only recall that this role played by the preparatory year would not have been achieved without the support of Allah and then the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, and the crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the educational support and encouraging, represented by the leadership of Al-Jouf University in general, represented by the educational edifice, the rector of Al-Jouf University, Dr. Ismail bin Mohammed Al-Bishri and the Deanship of the preparatory year in particular.
