The relationship between body weight and exercise

Step 1 Making an Observation: 1 point

regular exercise reduces body weight in many people.

Step 2 Formulating Hypothesis : 1 point

“The average loss of body weight of people who exercise is greater than the average loss of body weight of people who do not exercise.”

Note: we will study more quantitive measurements in chapter 3

Step 3 Designing an Experiment:

Population and sample: 1 point

Population is all the students in biology department, Sample is 20 students from biology department.

Source of data: 1 point Interview the students.

Sampling method: 1 point Systematic sampling

Study design and why: 1 point

Case-control study because it is appropriate to investigate the relationship between the two variables.

Study variables: (at four three variables) 4 points

Step 4 Conclusion: 2 points

We conclude through data collection the following points : 1- The histogram of weight variable is bimodal, from figure 1

2- most of the biology students have good health status and not using medications, from figure 2 3- less exercises hours associate with high weight values, from figure 3

4- the height variable have average 161.8 with high standard deviation.

Then we draw our conclusion based the previous results that the exercises reduce the body weight.
