Vice President represents AAU in the Economic Planning Forum

The Vice President of Al Ain University of Science and Technology (AAU), Abu Dhabi Campus, Dr. Amer Qasem, represent the AAU in the fifth session of the Emirates Economic Planning Forum, which held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the strategic support of the Ministry of Economy and the Department of Economic, under the slogan

"Accelerating the Economy of the Future: Knowledge, Innovation and Human Building".

Dr. Amer participated in a panel discussion entitled "University Education and Foresight the future”, Highlighting the importance of developing the university education to meet the future requirements of the labor market. He also reviewed the UAE strategies for foresight the future in various sectors; such as; the UAE Plan 2071, Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and the establishment of the world's first Ministry of Artificial Intelligence. He also pointed to the important role played by universities in providing various sectors with competencies that meet the aspirations of the future, stressing on that, the university education should focus on the cognitive and technical development of the students, teachers, and the academic programs to simulate the future.

The economic dimensions resulting from the universities' readiness for the future was one of the main aspects discussed by Dr. Amer, where he believes that the offering a new academic programs to meet the requirements of the labor market, would attract students to the internal educational institutions in the UAE rather than sending them abroad.

At the end of the session, the vice president emphasized that the Al Ain University of Science and Technology is keen to develop the students and academic staff skills by focusing on creativity, critical thinking and problem solving. In addition to, offering courses of artificial intelligence, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in various academic programs at the university.
