-Is a private, informal and voluntary process in which an impartial third party (mediator) assists tl disputants to resolve their problems

Process deals with personal, social, psychological problemsand difficulties.

Process carried out in public courts where a judge or magistrate has been appointed by the state to make ruling in terms of law.
5. Arbitration
Process in which a third party assists the disputants to resolve their problem and will listen to the storl of the disputants and make a decision. which is final and binding.

After the two parties didn't reach the agreement that is where the arbitrator comes to listen to their stories and makea decision, which is final and binding.
Mediation and conflict Resolution Exercise THO Case Study
Applying yourmediation and arbitration skillsin solving a problemin one of theTHO Regions.
1. A Master Healer(Gobela) complainsto a Field Officerfor placing him/herin the same trainingroom as his/her initiate (ithwasa). The F/O then organizes a meeting between the two parties involved in an attempt assist them reach a solution. During the time of discussion the Master Healer threatens to pull out of thetraining and discontinue with his/herplans of organisinga .workshop thefollowing week.
After these attempts theF/O calls upon the Senior Promoterto mediate onthe matter withthe F/O relating the matter to the Snr. Promoter in the presence of the parties involved. After closely listening to the matter the Snr.Promoter thengives each partythe opportunityto relate her/hisside of the story. The Promoterwill request that the twoparties come upwith possiblesolutions to their problem. If amongst the possible solution there is a pointof understanding andagreement thenthe case will be closed with both parties consenting. Should one of the parties dissatisfied with the possible solutions, then the seniorpromoter mayissue final decisionbased on the Ethics and Code of
Conduct on theTHO.
