The future of the solar telescope project includes the training of undergraduate and postgrad- uate students in solar observation from2022. The project will be upgraded with a HyperFine
130 8.6. FUTURE WORK Spectrometer which will enable students to study Zeeman splitting in sunspots, hyperfine mag- netic structure of elements on the Sun, the solar hydrogen structure, and the Doppler shift of Fraunhofer lines due to the rotation of the Sun. Since solar radio observations are valuable to the interpretation of solar data and SWx predictions, an eCallisto solar radio spectrometer will also be installed on university property, the Nooitgedacht research farm just outside Potchef- stroom, during2022. These upgrades and installations will provide a world class platform to monitor solar activity and provide in-house data to further SWx prediction models.
