Koba (47) is op Sondag 30 April die laaste keer lewend gesien. Haar familie het haar verlede week oral gesoek en nadat hulle haar foto Woensdag op Ala- bama se misdaadgroep (per Whatsapp) versprei het, het haar verminkte lyk die volgende oggend opgeduik. “Asof sy net weggegooi is.’’
Lala vertel: “Vroeg die oggend toe roep ‘n mannetjie my dogter en vra haar of sy gesien het hier lê ‘n vrou in die veld. Sy het gaan kyk, toe sien sy dit is Koba. Sy het nie die vorige dag daar gelê nie. Ons het oral gesoek. Ons sou daardie dag polisie toe gaan om haar as vermis aan te meld.’’
Dit was ‘n aaklige gesig. Vir hulle almal. Koba het net ‘n t-hemp aange- had. Haar een oog is uitgesteek. “Haar liggaam was verniel. Ek weet nie wat het hulle met haar gemaak nie. Sy het dit nie verdien nie.’’
Niemand is nog vir die moord in heg- tenis geneem nie, maar inwoners van Alabama fl uister dit is net te toevallig dat dieselfde man wat vir Emolia Happy
se moord in 2021 ‘n ruk agter tralies was, glo ook saam met Koba gesien is. Hy is op borgtog vrygelaat op afwagting van DNS-toetse.
Enslin Happy dink nie dit is toevallig dat die man wat van die moord op sy dogter verdink word, genoem word nie. “Nog ‘n familie huil nou snot en trane soos ons. Presies dieselfde wat met ons dogter gebeur het. Dit is net te toeval- lig.’’
Lala vertel sy en Koba het hul ma die laaste paar maande versorg nadat hul pa in Desember begrawe is. “My mammie het ‘n groot terugslag gehad met die ding van Koba. Sy is bedlêend en respond glad nie. Nou moet ons Koba voor die einde van die week begrawe. Dit gaan nie goed nie.’’
Die familie is in die duister oor die polisie-ondersoek. “Ons het gehoor dat sy waarskynlik doodgeslaan of doodgeskop is. Haar bekkenbene is gebreek. Die beserings aan haar kop het glo haar dood veroorsaak.’’
Wat die familie nog hoop gegee het, is dat iemand verlede Maandagoggend Koba se lipstiffi e en haar kepsie voor hul voordeur neergesit het. “Dit voel als so onwerklik. Dit is moeilik om te aanvaar,’’ sê Lala.
Klerksdorp Rekord het by die polisie navraag gedoen oor die moord. Geen terugvoering is ontvang nie.
Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - The Matlosana Councillor arrested after a video showing him having sex with minors went viral on social media, is still in police custody.
The Councillor who can be easily recognised in the video distributed widely through Whatsapp, was identifi ed as Tebogo Sepale (43), a councillor in ward 25 Kanana. He appeared in the Orkney Magistrates’ Court and the case was deferred to May 17. According to Henry Mamothame, NPA spokesperson, the accused requested a week to appoint a private attorney. It is expected that he will then apply for bail. “The state will oppose his bail application,’’ Mamothame said.
Sepale is facing eleven provisional charges, two for statutory rape, three for the violation of a child with consent, one for manufacturing pornographic material, four for rape and one for sexual intimidation. The state is not ruling out the possibility of more charges being added.
On Friday May 5, Brig Sabatha Mokgwa- bone, police spokesperson, confi rmed that the Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Off ences (FCS) Unit was investigating a case of crimen injuria and two separate counts of statutory rape, after they were reported at Kanana police station.
“In one of the cases, the suspect allegedly shared a nude picture of his private parts with the complainant. Two counts of statutory rape were added when the parents of two boys, aged 15 and 17, came forward to lay complaints against the accused.’’
These boys were alleged to be fi lmed while engaging in sexual acts with the accused. This video was distributed on social media.
According to Mokgwabone, investigation is underway to gather more evidence against the suspect. “The public is urged to refrain from circulating sexual content of any form through all mediums as it may compromise the victims and their families, as well as the investigations into the matter.’’
The ANC in North West has since suspended the membership of Sephala to the party. The suspension will hold until the outcome of a dis- ciplinary hearing.
The Director of Public Prosecutions in the North West, Dr Rachel Makhari Sekhaolelo, together with the Provincial Commissioner, Lieu- tenant General Sello Kwena, lauded the police for acting swiftly in arresting the suspect. A senior public prosecutor has been assigned to the case, owing to its serious nature.
Several shots were fi red in a CIT robbery early on Wednesday May 10 in Uraniaville. At the time of going to press, SAPS were still busy at the scene. According to information received one of the G4S security guards was injured in the shootout. The robbers used explosives to blow up the cash van and though details from the scene are sketchy, it was confi rmed that the robbers fl ed with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Claude van der Merwe (84) was ‘n bekende gesig op Orkney. Met sy drafklere en vriende- like groet het hy oral waar hy gaan ge- selsies aangeknoop en diep in die harte gekruip van Orkney se inwoners.
Hy was bekend as
‘n atleet en het 18 Comrades marathons aangepak waarvan hy 15 voltooi het.
Sy dogter, René vertel dat haar pa die eerste atleet uit die ou Wes-Transvaal was wat die Comrades suksesvol voltooi het.
Claude was die afgelope ses maande bedlêend en is Saterdag 6 Mei in sy huis oorlede omring deur sy ge- liefdes.
“Hy was nie baie gesond nie gewees nie en het die laaste maand skaars op- gestaan. Ons het hom tuis versorg,’’ verte René.
Claude en sy vrou, Rienie was 52 jaar getroud. Hy het 41 jaar op die Vaal Reefs myn
as loodgieter gewerk. Hy was nie net bekend as atleet nie, maar was ‘n ywerige kansvat- ter wat lief was daarvoor om vir kompetisies in te skryf. Hy ook baie van die kompetisies gewen en Klerksdorp Rekord het meermale oor sy geluk- kies berig.
Min mense het geweet dat Claude ook in sy vrye tyd geskilder het. “My pa was ‘n man met ‘n goeie hart.’’

Aardse marathon is voltooi

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerks- dorp - ‘n Groep mans wat vir Xpanda NW in Klerksdorp werk, was in ‘n grusame botsing op die N12 naby Dominionville waarin een van hul kollegas gesterf het.
Die botsing het vroegoggend op 26 April gebeur toe ‘n ander bakkie met ‘n sleepwa uit die rigting van Wolmaransstad, reg van voor teen die Xpanda-voer- tuig bots. Al twee insittendes in dié bakkie is dood.
Gerhard Kriel (36) en Hannes Groenewald het voor in die Xpanda-bakkie gery en nog drie werknemers, Rolandt Vogel, Thabo Dhadrack en Samson Nthembu (Fish) het agterop gesit. Hulle was onderweg na Wolmaransstad om rolhekke te installeer. Kriel het nie die bot- sing oorleef nie en Groenewald, wat nie vir Xpanda gewerk het nie, maar saam was om staalwerk te doen, het ernstige beserings opgedoen.
Die drie mans wat agter op die bakkie gesit het, is van die bakkie geslinger. Volgens Shirley Vogel, Rolandt se ma, is dit ‘n wonderwerk dat hulle die botsing oorleef het. “My seun het sy rug op drie plekke ge- breek en sy nek op twee plek-
ke. Hy het ook ‘n kneusing op die brein opgedoen en sy longe het seergekry. Fish het ook sy nek gebreek en Thabo het in- wendige beserings opgedoen.’’
Die drie is na Milpark Hos- pitaal in Johannesburg gevlieg waar hulle in die waakeenheid opgeneem is. Mense op die ongelukstoneel het vertel hoe die ernstig beseerde Rolandt vir Fish wat in die middel van die pad gelê het, opgetel en langs die pad neergesit het. Hy het ook sy pa van die ongeluksto- neel af gebel wat hulle daar- heen gehaas het.
Groenewald is in Wilmedpark se waakeenheid met inwendige beserings opgeneem. Thabo en Fish is verlede week ontslaan en Rolandt het op Woensdag 10 Mei huistoe gekom.
Kriel was ‘n tegnikus wat alarms en hekmotors geïnstal- leer en herstel het. Hy was getroud met Alta en hulle het ‘n tienjarige dog-
ter, Mieke.
Sy gedenk- diens het op Vrydag 5 Mei in die AGS Nuwe Lewe plaasge- vind.

Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - A 40-year-old Sergeant stationed at Orkney was arrested last week for defeating the ends of justice.
According to Brig Sabatha Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, the police officer was nabbed in a crime intelligence operation after information was received on a car hijacking and the Sergeant’s alleged involvement in the crime.
“We received information that the Sergeant and the suspect in the hijacking contacted the victim to get him to withdraw the case.
“They allegedly offered to bring him his car’s keys.’’
The vehicle was hijacked in Kanana in April and later discovered in a garage in Ext 21, Jouberton.
“Subsequent to the identification of the Ser- geant and involvement of the Provincial Anti- Corruption Investigation Unit (ACIU), the member was ultimately arrested at Orkney Police Station.
He was expected to appear in the Orkney Mag- istrates’ Court this week for defeating the ends of justice and possession of suspected stolen goods.’’
The Provincial Commissioner said that dishon- esty by employees will not be tolerated as that tarnishes the image of SAPS.
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Cable theft is costing the Matlosana municipality millions in damages cau- sing interruption in water and electricity supply to the already frustrated com- munity.
A series of cable theft and vandalism since the Workers Day long weekend affected electricity and water supply to several communities within Matlosana.
The latest incident was reported on Saturday May 6 when electrical cables along the railway track near Ellaton were tampered with. According to a statement by the municipality, a group of unknown armed men were responsible for the vandalism.
This caused interruption in water supply at the Ellaton Water Pump Sta- tion resulting in Jouberton, Alabama, Hartbeesfontein, Tigane and Manzilpark going without water for several days.
“The electrical and water section worked tirelessly to repair the cables,’’
said Ntswaki Makgetha, municipal spokesperson.
She said the management of the
City of Matlosana is pleading with the community to assist them in reporting any suspicious
activities of cable thefts to the police.
Also suspicious activities that may take place on municipal premises.
On May 2, cable theft in Uraniaville near Markotter stadium was reported in Leemhuis and Meteor Street.
The electrical department of- ficial found the area vandalised and cables stolen when they reported for duty in the
morning. The matter has been reported to the police and is under investigation.

According to Capt Aafje Botma, police spokesperson, one of the employees at the establishment was stabbed with a knife by one
of the robbers. “Six suspects entered the shop and demanded money. They took an amount of money with them and a cellphone before
fleeing the scene.’’
No arrests have been made yet. The injured employee was taken to hospital.

Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - Pink and purple balloons were seen all over Stilfontein last week when the Stilfontein police, the CPF and the community in blue patrollers campaigned against gender- based violence.
The men and women in blue got to- gether on Friday May 5 in the CBD to in- crease awareness and understanding on the causes and impact of gender-based violence to the community.
Sgt Amogelang Malwetse, police spokesperson, said the community needs to be educated about what gender-based violence is and how it can be addressed
and prevented.
“They were also taught on how to identify as well as support the victims and survivors,’’ she said.
The pink and purple balloons attracted people to the event and the colours sym- bolised care and support.
Const Sharon Matras, community policing officer (CPO) for Stilfontein and Marius Trollip, CPF chairperson led the stakeholders and together they engaged individuals on GBV and all other related matters. They also signed a pledge as a sign of commitment to join SAPS in the fight against crime.

We will never get used to load-shedding.
Just like we will never stop complaining about our pothole riddled roads.
Why? Because we do not deserve this.
As the list of complaints are getting longer, the travesty we call our monthly municipal bill has entered the fold. Will it be the last straw to break the horse’s back?
Tax paying citizens have contacted our offi ce with lengthy complaints about their municipal accounts. These are people who actually pay, but now, faced with incorrect accounts and getting a blasé attitude from offi cials, they simply cannot aff ord it anymore.
Understandably so, when you see a municipal account from a local business amounting to R27 million. True story.
Worst of all, for all these people, it will cost them money to sort out a problem other people are being paid to make.
The management must start to really listen to the community. We are not Boko Haram, we won’t come and threaten you in your workplace. We are the people who pay so you get a salary every month. And when we stop paying, what then?
Get your house in order. It can’t continue like this.

Bert Gaff en, historian at Klerksdorp Museum, said: These postcards were printed and distributed to commemorate Britain’s Queen Victoria who celebrated her 60th year on the throne on June 22 1897 (the fi rst British monarch ever to reach this milestone - this was only surpassed by Queen Elizabeth II who reigned for 70 years). This just shows how strong the British infl uence was in Klerksdorp even before the Anglo-Boer War broke out two years later (October 1899).

Indien ouers onverdraagsaam, veroordelend en emosioneel af- gesluit is, sal kinders dit as die norm aanvaar.
Kinders kan soms so wreed wees teenoor ander kinders (dan is hul maar 5jaar oud).
Leer die kinders om nie met ander maatjies te spot nie. Nie maatjies te boelie nie. Nie lelike dinge te sê soos bv jy is vet of jy het ‘n skewe oog nie.
Leer hulle elke mens is na God se wil geskape.
Ouers/volwasse persone wat neersien op ander wat minder het.
Jou kind gaan jou voorbeeld volg.
Moenie op ander neersien nie. Alles wat ons het is net genade.
Moenie maatjies afbreek nie. As ons daardie klein dingetjie in die lewe kweek in ons huise en by ons kinders sal ons wêreld ‘n klein bietjie beter wees.
Daar is plek dat elkeen ‘n bietjie son mag voel. Gun jou medemens ook daardie stukkie son.

Farouk Dangor took part in the Simola Hill Climb Challenge in Knysna over the week-
end and did amazingly well.
He was one of the quickest drivers taking on the best lo- cal and international drivers.
Ex Formula One driver Mika Salo who drove for Fer- rari and was hired by Mer- cedes SA for the event, took part and Farouk even posted a time quicker than him.
Farouk’s car was built by his late son, Mo, and he drove it in his honour.
