Review article: Bioprospecting of African frogs for antimicrobial activity

T. Govender, A. Dawood, A.J. Esterhuyse, D.R. Katerere Significance of paper

Southern Africa has unique biodiversity in both flora and fauna with high endemicity. This biodiversity remains largely unexplored. This paper is a review on the bioprospecting of frogs in Southern Africa (the status quo, the potential of antimicrobial peptides (AMP), their isolation and uses, ethics involved etc) and this will serve as a primer to research in the area.
