CANTOR JOSEPH ADLER.
There recently arrived in this countrv Cantor Joseph Adler, a ·well-known chazai-i who has occupied posts in synagogues 1n Germany, Poland and England. During the recent High Festivals, Cantor Adler con- ducted the services at the Adath-Israel Synagogue in Pretoria and demonstrated the possession of a fine lyric tenor voice and able diction. Cantor Adler is now in Johannesburg and hopes to conduct ser-
vices at one of the local synagogues.

MISS ESTHER LUTRIN.
Miss Esther Lutrin, the well-known elocu- tionist of Durban, is no\Y in Johannesburg, where she is taking up permanent residence and is opening up a studio.
Miss Lutrin has a fine reputation as an actress and expert elocutionist. She has produced many plays in aid of charity and recently successfully produced a play of Jewish interest, "The Star of Judah," at the Durban Jewish Club. She hopes at an early opportunity to be responsible for a theatrical production in Johannesburg.

A charming wedding took place at the Roeland Street Synagogue on the 14th inst., when Isobel (Billy) daughter of Mrs. M.
Cohen and the late Mr. Marks Cohen, of Capetown,-was married to Joseph (Joe), son of Mrs. F. Rosengarten and the late Mr. M.
Rosengarten, of Johannesburg.
Dr. D. Cohen, of Warmbaths (brother of the bride) gave the bride away. The best man was Mr. I. Cohen (brother of the biid ), and the unterfuhr rs were Mrs.
