Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Police are searching for unknown suspect/s who shot and killed a 48-year-old taxi driver who was driving from Klerksdorp back to Johan- nesburg.

“According to information available at this stage, the victim’s taxi was spotted along the road on Sunday evening, December 19 with hazard lights on by a fellow taxi driver who was also driving back to Johannesburg, and went to check.

“He found the driver lying in a pool of blood.

He also realised that the vehicle’s window was shattered. The incident was ultimately reported to the police and the victim was certi- fi ed dead on the scene.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had what appeared to be gunshot wounds on the upper body.

The motive for the killing is still unknown and investigation into the matter continues,”

said Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani, police spokesperson.

The police request anyone who may have

information that can assist in the investigation to contact the Investigating Offi cer, Sgt Sello Molatha on 082 856 112 5 or call South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Stop number:

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, con- demned the incident and urged the public to come forward and assist the police in arresting the alleged perpetrator/s.

The talented Olereko Leboko (7) from Kanana is the winner in Klerksdorp Record’s young artist competition. The learner from Roosheuwel Primary School drew a caricature of his favourite television character Mr Bean. The editorial staff of Klerksdorp Record judged the competition that only drew seven entries. Olereko was all smiles when he accepted his R1 000 prize money at Klerksdorp Record’s offi ce. He said he is going to buy sweets, toys and art supplies with the money.

Klerksdorp Record, Jouberton - Police are searching for four armed men dressed in police uniforms who entered a house in Jouberton and shot and killed the owner on Reconciliation Day.

“According to information that we have at our disposal, a 64-year-old man who is the owner of the house, was watching television with his family when they heard a knock at the door and opened.

“Four men who pretended to be police of- fi cers entered the house and demanded to see the owner’s son. The men allegedly shot the owner after he told them that his son was not home. The victim’s daughter went to check what was happening, but was also shot on her lower body.

“The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage and investigation into the matter continues,” said Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani, police spokesperson.
