Menjabat sebagai Wakil Ketua Komite Ekonomi Nasional dari Presiden Republik Indonesia, selain bertugas sebagai dosen senior dari Jurusan Ekonomi, Universitas Indonesia dan Research Associate dari Lembaga Pengkajian Ekonomi dan Sosial, Fakultas Ekonomi, Universitas Indonesia (Institute for Economic and Social Research) Sebelumnya bertugas sebagai Staf Khusus dari Menteri Keuangan Indonesia dan pernah bertugas sebagai Deputy of Minister of Finance untuk forum G-20 Selain bertindak sebagai konsultan World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), USAID, AUSAID, OECD dan UNCTAFD Keahlian utamanya adalah pada bidang perdagangan internasional, makroekonomi dan ekonomi politik. Mendapatkan gelar PhD dalam bidang ekonomi pada tahun 2001, gelar Master of Economic Development pada tahun 1996, keduanya dari Australian National University Menyelesaikan pendidikan Sarjana dari Fakultas Ekonomi, Universitas Indonesia tahun 1992.
Appointed as Independent Commissioner in 2011, the current term of office will expire in 2016. Served as Vice Chairman of the Committee on National Economy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, in addition to serving as a senior lecturer of the Department of Economics, University of Indonesia and Research Associate of the Institute for Social and Economic Studies, Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (Institute for Economic and Social Research). Previously served as a Special Staff of Minister of Finance of Indonesia and had served as Deputy of Minister of Finance for the G-20 forum, in addition to acting as a consultant to World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), USAID, AUSAID, OECD and UNCTAFD. Mr. Chatib Basri’s main expertise is in the field of international trade, macroeconomics and political economy.
Received his PhD in economics in 2001, a Master of Economic Development in 1996, both from the Australian National University. He Graduated from Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia in 1992 with a Bachelor degree.

Appointed as HR Director effective March 2011. Responsible for developing HR competencies and managing all aspects of employment within the Company. His service as a Company Director will cease in 2016. Previously served as Division Head for Law and Risk Management (2006-2011), Division Head for Distribution and Transportation (2003-2006) and Division Head for Logistics (2000-2003). He joined the Company in 1987 as a trainee.

Diangkat sebagai Direktur Pengembangan Usaha dan Bisnis mulai bulan Maret 2011. Bertanggung jawab untuk kegiatan pengembangan usaha Perseroan. Masa jabatan sebagai Direktur Perseroan akan berakhir pada 2016. Tahun 2005- 2011 menjabat sebagai Direktur Pemasaran PT Semen Tonasa. Memulai karir di PT Semen Padang sejak 1983-2005 dan telah menempati berbagai posisi manajemen sebelum bergabung dengan PT Semen Tonasa.
Menyelesaikan Program Magister Manajemen dari Universitas Andalas, tahun 2004 Lulus program Sarjana dari Fakultas Teknik Industri, Institut Teknologi Bandung, 1982.
Appointed as Director of Business Development in 2011. He is responsible for all Business development activities within the Company. His current term as Director will expire in 2016. He was previously Marketing Director at PT Semen Tonasa (2005 – 2011) and has held various other managerial positions at PT Semen Padang (1983 – 2005).
He holds a Master’s degree in management from Andalas University, Padang, (2004), and a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (1982).
A Member of the Audit Committee since July 2008, he is currently a member of the Audit Committee of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk. He is a financial expert as defined in Item 16A of the annual report (Form 20-F) and is "independent" as defined in Rule 10A-3 of the Capital Market Law in the United States. He is a member of the Indonesian Public Accountants Association and has practiced as a Public Accountant in Indonesia.
He holds a diploma in accountancy from the State College of Accountancy, Jakarta, and a Master’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary’s University, Canada.
