B. SARAN

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, peneliti mengemukakan beberapa saran yang berguna bagi perkembangan studi ilmiah mengenai employee engagement, dimensi-dimensi job demands, dan dimensi-dimensi job resources, serta dapat berguna bagi pihak perusahaan sebagai berikut:

1. Saran Metodologis

a. Sebagian besar subjek penelitian ini berjenis kelamin laki-laki. Penelitian Araya, Chotai, Komproe, dan De Jong (2007) menunjukkan adanya perbedaan persepsi dukungan sosial yang diterima berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan gambaran dukungan atasan dan rekan kerja di Lonsum kantor cabang Medan menunjukkan gambaran dari subjek berjenis kelamin laki-laki saja. Disarankan bagi penelitian selanjutnya mengenai dukungan atasan dan rekan kerja untuk membedakan kedua variabel berdasarkan jenis kelamin.

2. Saran Praktis

a. Beban kognitif yang tinggi menuntut konsentrasi dan atensi terus menerus dari karyawan sehingga karyawan kesulitan untuk menempatkan fokus ketika bekerja Thomas (2012) mengutarakan adanya pelatihan attention- management yang dapat membantu karyawan mengatur pekerjaan dengan fokus yang lebih terarah. Taris, Kompier, dan Wielinga (2006) mengemukakan bahwa fokus yang terarah dapat mengurangi beban kognitif

dan meningkatkan kesempatan mempelajari strategi kerja baru. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyarankan dilakukannya pelatihan attention-management agar dapat mengurangi beban kognitif. Diharapkan dengan mengurangi beban kognitif, kesempatan belajar akan meningkat. Dengan beban kognitif yang rendah dan kesempatan belajar yang tinggi, maka employee engagement di Lonsum kantor cabang Medan.
