4.2.2 The special type of word-formation in Comic

The special type of word-formation in comic is visual communication. The visual aspects that use as medium for the character move and speak within a realistic begin before and carry past the action depicted, establishing “reality” perpetually. Event the writer used visual communication the writer also used picture. Comic strips virtually pictures because pictures may trigger huge associate pathways to memory, experiences,

pleasure that predate verbal equivalent. The unidentified word is one of the characteristic that makes them are interest. This is the special type of word that there is no in the word formation literary.

4.3 The Data Interpretation

Enjoying a comic does not only require an enough vocabulary, but also a smart guess to the “puzzle”, that is an unidentified symbol. Of all cases, there are 9.3% of important symbol in comic communication that can not be identified their process of formation. Of course this case can not be related by the most comic hobbyist today. If they didn’t know about 9.3% word in comic, it makes confused, so that they missed the message. Or maybe 9.3% is a something that funny in a comic but they miss it. It is significant because sometime the key of word in unidentified of word -formation.

This research is important that words makes fundamental of communication. All of the people know the word and they make it. While the picture not all the people can make it and know it because picture is worth, thousand of word.

CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Based on the findings and discussion in this study, the conclusion is drawn as follows:

5.1 Conclusion

Reference back to the problem of the research there are two relate to conclusion:

5.1.1 The word-formation processes of comic series in the Jakarta Post as follows:

(1) Derivation is forming of a new word by adding affixes to the existing word.

Derivations which are formed by add Ed, past tense, prefixes, suffixes, multiple affixation and truncation. Derivation has 52.2% of word formation processes.

(2) Compounding is a joining of two separate words to produce a single form. It has 19.4% of word formation processes.

(3) Shortening is a popular means of multiplying the words of language. In this research, they have 18.5 % of word formation processes.

(4) Acronym is some words are formed from the initial letters of a set of other words;

it has 0.17% of word formation processes.

(5) Blends are the combination of two separate forms to produce a single new term typically accomplished language by taking only the beginning of one word and joining into the end of other words; it has 0.17 % of word formation processes.

5.1.2 There are some unidentified word formation processes in comic writing.

(1) Pictorial communication that the writer found it in every scene of comic especially in Ferd’nand of comics strips.

(2) Unidentified word that is makes the reader confused because didn’t know what the meaning. The writer can not give what the names of word so that wants the examiner give the name of word.

Most of them used make approach the area the study of written material becoming broader and varied. That is why significance for the language the study such kinds of material and its implication to language variation.

5.2. Suggestion

This study only discusses what the types, the most and the special type of word.

However, it will be interesting to the study if the language researchers move explore her research in other aspects in order to enrich the understanding about word-formation Also to the readers of mixed materials to make sense of their understanding in language especially in word-formation. At last, the researcher who wants to conduct the language teacher to give single mouth communication to their students. It makes the study more interested.
