1. The number of students admitted to each QIT course is limited b quota.
2. In order to be admitted to a course, a student must fulfil tw conditions -
(a) Satisfy the requirements for entry, including any employmer requirements, set out in the Schedules forming part of th statement;
(b) Gain a place in the quota for that course.
3. Method of selecting quotas in Approved Undergraduate CoursE (i) Except for courses referred to in sub-section (ii) of this sectior selection for quota places from among eligible applicants fc entry to all undergraduate courses shall normally be in accorc ance with academic merit as indicated either by the applicant actual Tertiary Entrance (TE) Score or by a Notional Tertiar Entrance Score allocated by the Institute to students othc than current Queensland Grade 12 students.
(ii) Special provisions relating to selection in certain courses:
(a) Part-time internal and part-time external Law
Applicants for the part-time internal Bachelor of La111 course must normally be resident in the Brisbane stati tical region, and applicants for the part-time extern Bachelor of Laws course must normally be resident i

applicants who are serving Articles of Clerkship to solicitor or some other form of practical training refem to in rule 18(3) of the Solicitors' Admission Rule 1968, as amended, or who are public servants in offic set forth in Section 7 of the Legal Practitioners Ac Amendment Act 1968 and comprising -
( 1) the Solicitor-General's office;
(2) the Crown Solicitor's Office;
(3) the Public Defender's Office;
(4) any branch or section of the Chief Office of ti Department of Justice not covered by ( 1), ( or (3) above;
(5) the Parliamentary Counsel and Draftsman's Offic (6) a Registry of the Supreme Court;
(7) a Registry of the District Court;
(8) the Public Curator's Office (including any brani thereof);
(9) an office of a Clerk of a Magistrates Court.
Admission Policy 123 If there is any place left after the above-mentioned preference has been given, a second preference may be given to applicants who are Commonwealth public serv- ants, or Queensland Public Servants in offices other than those referred to above, and who can show that by reason of the duties they perform it is desirable that they be enrolled in the course. Applicants fulfilling a preference category must provide appropriate docu- mentary evidence to the Institute and to the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre before preference will be given to their application.
(b) Diagnostic Radiography and Therapeutic Radiography In the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography course places in the quota are only offered to applicants who meet the academic requirements for entry and who have been granted a cadetship or other form of appropriate training with an approved Department or practice.
(c) Part Time External Course Bachelor of Business (Health Administration)
In the Bachelor of Business (Health Administration) external course preference will be given to applicants who reside outside the Brisbane Statistical Region.
k Allocation of Notional Tertiary Entrance Scores (i) General
For the purpose of assessing entry and selecting the quota for undergraduate courses, the Institute shall allocate a Notional Tertiary Entrance (NTE) Score to all applicants other than those completing grade 12 at a Queensland Secondary School in the year immediately prior to the year in which entry is being sought. Such Notional Tertiary Entrance Scores shall be calculated either on the basis of results obtained in relevant examinations or by assessing a combination of prior academic results and other relevant evidence (e.g. employment exper- ience relevant to the course for which the applicant seeks entry).
(ii) Conversion of Queensland Results into Notional Tertiary Entrance Scores for other than current Grade 12 students.
(a) Where an applicant relies on qualifications obtained in the State of Queensland arising from -
( 1) results obtained by full-time study in any year other than the year immediately preceeding that in which he/she seeks entry;
(2) results obtained entirely by part-time study;
(3) results obtained by combining full-time and part- time study; or

(4) results obtained by undertaking examinations fo adult entry;
the results obtained by the applicant will be convertec into a Notional Tertiary Entrance Score in accordanei with Table 1.
(b) Subject to the provisions of paragraph (c) below, th basis on which results will be converted in accordanc with Table 1 shall be -
( 1) actual TE Scores obtained by applicants whc completed Grade 12 in the years 1974 to 197~
shall be allocated the nearest Notional Tertian Entrance Score;
(2) Normal Entry by part-time study: Applicants ma1 fulfil the requirements for part-time entry eithe by undertaking all subjects on a part-time basis, o by a combination of results obtained by full-tim and part-time study. In either case a Notionci Tertiary Entrance Score shall be calculated on th basis of the applicant's best results in five differen subjects, and applied to the year in which the las examination was taken.
(3) Adult Entry: Except for applicants for degre courses in Engineering who require five (5) sut jects, adult entry applicants shall be assigned Notional Tertiary Entrance score on the basi of their best results in four different subjects ani applied to the year in which the last examinatio was taken. Applicants must have attained the ag of 21 years on or prior to the 31st December o the year in which the first examination for whic credit is sought under this provision was taker (c) Notional Tertiary Entrance Scores assigned in accorc ance with the provisions of Table 1 may be modified fo previous performance in tertiary study.
(iii) Conversion of other results into Notional Tertiary Entranc Scores:
For the purpose of selecting applicants for entry to unde1 graduate courses, Notional Tertiary Entrance Scores shall b allocated to all applicants, other than current grade 12 stuc ents and applicants referred to in (ii) above, on such basis 2
the Admissions Committee may from time to time determine 5. Exclusion from a Tertiary Institution
The Institute reserves the right to refuse entry to any applicant wh has been excluded from any course within a tertiary institution c who becomes liable for such exclusion while his application being considered. Such refusal will normally only apply to coursE where quota restrictions have to be applied.
