The Associate Diploma in Accountancy course is a professional level course providing a comprehensive education in all phases·of accounting.
The Associate Diploma in Business Studies course provides a comprehensive business education for those aspiring to senior clerical and administrative positions in commerce and industry- the "commercial technologists".
The Advanced Commercial Certificate course provides training for the "commercial technicians" who will support the pro- fessional accountant.
Any of the functional specialists-in accountancy, engineering, production, marketing, personnel, and other areas-may achieve managerial status if he displays executive and administrative skills, and develops the qualities required of the manager. In this capacity he may be faced with responsibility for the productivity and profitability of the enterprise, and with problems of human relations and leadership.
A Diploma in Business Administration Course is provided to assist graduates and diplomates from other Departments to prepare for administrative responsibilities.
The Department of Business Studies seeks to give the tech- nologists who go out from the Institute, an awareness of the social, economic, and industrial environment in which they will function;
and endeavours to equip them with that knowledge of human
behaviour, organisation and management, and analytical and
decision-making skills, which will enable them to attain their
highest potential as managers, accountants and administrators.

DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Three (3) years part-time evening course.
This course is designed to assist graduates and diplomates to prepare for ad- ministrative responsibilities. The course examines the contributions which have been made to management theory and practice by accountin¥, statistics, economics, and psychology, and emphasises the importance of personal inter-relationships, and the role of the executive as decision-maker. Case studies are used to provide simulated business situations in which students become members of a management team and are required to analyse problems and make decisions. Provision is made for specialisation in particular areas, and the preparation of a thesis.
Completion of the course entitles the graduate to a Diploma and the use of the letters DQIT (BusAdmin).
Entrance Requirements.:
I. A graduate or diplomate (other than in management) of a University or Institute of Technology.
2. Two years appropriate experience in commerce, industry or the Public Service.

For: Present and potential managers and executives.
Completion of the course entitles the graduate to an Associate' Diploma and the use of the letters AQIT(Man).
Upon successful completion of the Associate Diploma in Management an applicant shall be eligible for ASSOCIATE FELLOWSHIP of the. Australian Institute of Management, if he is not less than 30 years of age and can give such proof as the Council may require of his fitness to hold positions of high admin- istrative responsibility.
Minimum Age: Twenty-two (22) years.
Entrance Requirements: Senior Public-at least a C pass in English, Mathematics I and three other subjects, or approved equival~nt.
