A subject of two to three 1-hour lectures and two 1-hour tutorials a week throughout the year, except for the proviso with regard to the drama elective below.

Prerequisite: English A or an approved equivalent.

Syllabus

A core course involving the study of nineteenth and twentieth century English poetry

and fiction as listed below, together with a study of one of the three electives — Australian Literature or American Literature or Modern Drama. (All external students in English B will study the Australian Literature segment.) There may be some informal work in school oriented areas such as creative writing and adolescent literature.
