Walker Scholarship of #48 open to competition among those candidates who are proceeding to the advanced studies in Chemistry prescribed for the Degree of M.Sc.

11. For the purpose of Chapter IV, Regulation I, Section 2, courses in the Faculty of Science shall not be deemed to be courses in which specific work is assigned to specific years or in which candidates are required to complete years, but Prizes, Exhibitions and Scholar ships in the subjects set out in Section 3 of this Regulation shall be awarded—
(a) in the case of subjects in Group I only to candidates who pass or obtain honours in not less than three subjects of that Group at one Annual Examination ;
(b) in the case of subjects in Groups II and III only to candidates who pass or obtain honours in not less than two subjects from among the subjects of those Groups at one Annual Examina- tion.
No candidate may be awarded the Dixson Scholarship in Pure Mathematics Part II or in Applied Mathematics Part II unless he is eligible to compete for such Scholarship under Chapter III, Regulation II, Section 24, or passes or obtains honours at the same Annual Examination in some subject other than Pure Mathematics Part II and Applied Mathematics Part II.
A candidate completing the Third Year of the course for the Degree of Bachelor of Science and taking the subjects of Division I of the course for the Degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery shall be eligible to compete for the Prize and Exhibitions open for competition at the Honour Examinations of that Division.
12. (a) Candidates desiring to take both the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees must submit a course extend- ing over not less than four years for the approval of both Faculties.
(b) Graduates in Arts may proceed to the Bachelor of Science degree after completing not less than an additional year's work approved by the Faculty.
PART B
13. A candidate proceeding to the Degree of Bachelor of Science
under Part B of this Regulation shall pass the examinations in the subjects of Division A and of one of the Sub-Divisions of Division B:
provided that in special circumstances the Faculty may permit two or more Sub-Divisions to be combined and for that purpose may prescribe the subjects to be studied and passed in lieu of a Sub-Division of Division B.

A candidate who has obtained credit for a subject in Division A may not obtain credit for the same subject in any Sub-Division of Division B.
14. The Faculty of Science may permit a candidate to substitute for any of the subjects of his course subjects which are not specified or to substitute portion of a subject of Group III, Section A, as set out in Section 3 above for a subject of Division B of Section 13 provided that the Faculty is satisfied that the proposed subjects are relevant to the candidate's course and of a standard not lower than the subjects for which they are substituted. The Faculty shall determine what, if any, pre-requisites must be passed prior to commencing such subject or
subjects.
15. Except with the special permission of the Faculty, no candi- date may-
( a) receive credit for more than four subjects passed at any one examination;
(b) proceed to any subject without having completed the appro- priate pre-requisites as set out in Section 5.
•Agricultural Chemistry will be approved in courses for B.Sc. (Parts A and B) only if laboratory space remains after students enrolled for Agricultural Science, Forestry and Dietetics have been accommodated.

16. To complete his First Year a candidate shall (a) pass in four subjects ; or (b) be passed by the Faculty in the Year as a whole in accordance with the principles set out in Section 6. A candidate who has completed his First Year and who passes either in three additional sub-
jects or in six subjects in all shall thereby complete his Second Year. A candidate who has completed his Second Year and passes either in three additional subjects or in nine subjects in all shall thereby complete his Third Year.
17. A candidate who has satisfied the requirements of Section 13 may be admitted to the Degree of Bachelor of Science.'
18. At the Honour Examinations candidates may compete for any Exhibitions or Scholarships in the subjects of their course that are available for competition by candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Science as set out in Section 10 of this Regulation. Such Exhibitions and Scholarships may be awarded only—
in the case of Division A to candidates who pass or obtain honours in not less than three subjects of that Division at the one examination and who have not previously passed in more than two subjects of their course:
(b) in the case of Division В to candidates who, at the one examina- tion, pass or obtain honours in not less than two subjects of Division B or who pass or obtain honours in one subject of Division B and in not less than two other subjects of their course.
