Selection Criteria: The character and personality of each candidate and the economic needs of each candidate.

Candidates must demonstrate a high level of academic ability as well as future dedication towards the promotion of the nursery industry. The selection committee will comprise the Head of Burnley Campus or nominee, at least one other member of the Faculty of Land and Food Resources (usually the Head of Department of Resource Management and Horticulture), and a member or representative ofthe Bone family.

Special Conditions: The committee may make a single award of $4,000 or two awards of $2,000. The committee may decline to award the Prize in any year.
