applied to airfares, tram/bus fares, accommodation and/or any other expenses associated with local travel at the research site. The award is not to be applied to funding for attendance at conferences or seminars if this is the purpose ofthe application. Nor is the award to be applied to support course fees at an overseas institution.
Candidates would present an outline of planned activities proposed to undertake through the Scholarship and make a case justifying their selection.

Travelling Melbourne Abroad Travelling Scholarship (MATS) Scholarship Eligibility PhD and other Research Doctorate students.
Selection Criteria: Awarded on a competitive basis to assist PhD and other Research Doctorate students travel overseas to conduct academically justifiable research that is relevant, but not essential, to the completion of the student's thesis and that fulfills two or more of the following purposes:
• To collect field data
• To access research materials not available in Australia
• To work in a laboratory, research institute or meet researchers
• To present papers at relevant conferences.
