Crown Lands of Xew South Wides is derogatory to t h e rights bf His Ptlajesty and his Successors, and conducive to inariy illegal and dishonest practices; ancl whereas the Laws now i n force are insufficient

for the speedy and efkctual rernoval of intruders upon s u c h Lands : Bepennities tor

it therefore enacted, by His Excelleiicy the Governor of New South l,ccupationot

Wales, w i t h the advice of the Legislative Couiicil thereof, that from arid after thc First clay of Jauuary next, any person who shall be found occupying any Crown Lands lying waste i n New South Wales, within the lirnits allotted 'for Location by the G o v e h n e n t Order of the Four- teenth d a y of October, One thousatid eight hundred and twenty-nine, either by residing, or by erecting a n y Tent, H u t , or Building thereon, or by clearing, enclosing, or cultivating any part tliercof, shall on con- victidn thcreuf,' forfeit and pay the following Penalties ; that is to say, for tlic first offence, any s u m not exceecling Ten Ponnds, ;it the discre- tion of the Jristicc or Justices before whom the coinplaint shall be heard;
