LETTERS PATENT
No amendment of the constitution of the said University which may at any time or from time to time be made by any Act of the Legislature of South Australia shall in any way annul, abrogate, rewrite or diminish the privileges conferred on the said. University under these Letters Patent, nor the rank, rights, privileges, and considerations conferred by such degrees, so long as the standard of knowledge now established, or a similar standard, is maintained as a necessary condition of obtaining the aforesaid degrees. Any such standard shall be held sufficient for the purposes of this our Letters Patent if so declared in a Proclamation issued by our Governor of South Australia for the time being.
ACT OF INCORPORATION
The University of Adelaide shall elect two members who shall be members of the said University. The clerk enters the lists of divisions into the minutes.
OFFICERS OF THE UNIVERSITY
The appointment was proposed by the Faculty of Medicine, but will require the approval of the Council. BACHELORS OF LAW, MEDICINE ARTS AND SCIENCES NON-MEMBERS OF THE SENATE.
STATUTES
CHAPTER I.-OF THE CHANCELLOR AND VICE- CHANCELLOR
The Senate has the power from time to time to adopt, amend and repeal rules of procedure to govern its proceedings. Until they are amended or repealed, the Rules of Procedure of the Senate, adopted on December 2, 1885, shall remain in force.
UHAPTER IV.-OF PROFESSORS AND LECTURERS
No professor may sit in the Danish Parliament or become a member of any political association; nor shall he (without the approval of the Council) give private tuition or lecture to persons who are not students of the University. During the term, except on Sundays and holidays, the entire time of the professors must be available to the council for the purposes of the university.
CHAPTER V.-OF THE REGISTRAR
The Council may at its discretion remove from office or suspend for a time from the performance of his duties and the receipt of his salary any Professor whose continuance in his office or in the performance of his duties, in the opinion of to the Council, will be prejudicial to the progress of the students or to the interests of the University: Provided that no such dismissal shall be effective until confirmed by the Visitor. Professors and lecturers shall take part in university examinations as the Council shall direct, but no professor or lecturer shall be required to examine in any subject which it is not his duty to teach.

I present you as the right and suitable person to be admitted to the Diploma and I certify to you and the entire University that he has fulfilled the conditions set for admission to that Diploma.
CHAPTER X.-OF THE FACULTIES
Subject to the faculty's control, he exercises general supervision over its administrative activities. Under the control of the board, he exercises general control over its administrative business.
CHAPTER XII.-OF THE BOARD OF DISCIPLINE
Every such decision of the Board shall be reported to the Council, which may reverse, vary or confirm the same. The scholarship will be tenable for three years and will have an annual value of £200.
CHAPTER XV.-OF THE STOW PRIZES AND SCHOLAR
All these scholars are subject in all respects to the discipline and the statutes and regulations of the university. Each scholar will receive half of the annual income, as long as that income does not exceed sixty pounds.
CHAPTER XVI.-OF THE COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS'
Each of the Stow Prizes shall consist of the sum of Fifteen Pounds, or (at the option of the prize-man) of books to be selected by him to the value of that sum. Each such scholar shall be subject in all respects for the time being to the discipline and to the Statutes and Regulations of the said University.
CHAPTER XVII.-OF CONDUCT AT EXAMINATIONS
The hoods for graduates of several colleges have a one and a half wide silk border on both the inside and the outside. Hoods for doctors of medicine shall be lined with crimson silk all along the inner fold, and have a border of the same silk on the outer fold, an inch and a half wide.

Each candidate will be required to satisfy the examiners in three of the following subjects, but no candidate will be examined in more than five. Candidates who satisfy the examiners in four subjects and obtain credit in not less than two of the four, or who satisfy the examiners in three subjects and obtain credit in all, are placed in the First Class.

To obtain the Degree of Bachelor of Arts, each candidate must, after matriculation, complete three academic years of study and pass the examination for each year as specified hereafter.
