FOREWORD
A few months ago, I received a surprise phone call from Shaaron Boughen, who I well remember sharing dance classes with in Brisbane when we were children. I was delighted to accept her invitation to come home from New York and work as guest
~horeographer
and teacher with the graduating students from Dance at the Academy.
Since~orking
with these students, I have been impressed not only by their excellent
~allet~ork,
but also their strengths in contemporary technique, which feed into each
other. This balance of high standard contemporary and classical skills in a graduatingdance class is quite unique, and lays the foundation for some exciting performance
careers
.Apart from working on my own piece, I have enjoyed being part of the ' team
'of professional and supportive staff here, even if only for a short while.
Tonight's program delivers a sample of all dance genres, demonstrating the excellent ration the dance courses give to students in diverse performance skills. I hope that
·oy their work tonight, and I look forward to working with another graduating ass from the Academy in the not too distant future
.John Meehan
