PRESIDENTS REPORT

Good Afternoon everyone and welcome to our 2018-2019 season Annual General Meeting (AGM).

For those of you who do not know my name is Bernadette Burns and I have represented Sunbury Little Athletics Club as their president for this current season. I have been involved with Sunbury Little Athletics for the past 4 years and it was a true honor to step up and be involved with the everyday operations of the club during this season. As this club runs successfully through the commitment of our athletes’ parents and extended family members, I encourage any family member of an athlete to join the committee to further support the success of the club.

Also a huge thank you to all the parent helpers, that have really stepped up in this past year.

Without everyone’s dedication this year we would not have been able to run as successfully.

This season when have had 183 athletes Participate. The year started with Cross Country season in which we hosted 3 events, one of them being our Open Day. We had around 140 athletes attend from around Victoria. From Sunbury we had around 20 athletes compete in the Cross Country Season.

The summer season started in October. We then had Region Multi held here at Sunbury which was a great pleasure to host where we had 43 Sunbury athletes compete.

We then moved onto Region Relays with 25 teams entered. It was a huge effort to put those teams together so a big thank you to Greg Denner.

Our Christmas Family Fun Day was a great day with prices and many fun events that the children really enjoyed including elf throwing and Frisbee flying.

We had 2 athletes compete at State Multi.

A few weeks later we had Region Track and Field where we had 14 athletes compete. From the 14 athletes we had 8 athletes qualify to State Track & Field.

Again thank you to our Team Manager Greg Denner for making these days so successful and to Brooke Rennie and Robyn Thies for the additional support during these days.

Overall it has been a fantastic year for athletes with many PB’s being achieved and records broken. In particular the record broken by Abbey McDonald in Shot Put was 40 years held before broken.

As we now entre our cross country season starting in April/May I encourage you all to keep a close eye on facebook, team app and our website for dates and details.

As the 2018/19 season comes to a close I reflect on the achievements of our athletes and the sportsmanship across the season and with this we close another fantastic season and prepare ourselves for another fantastic season in 2019/20.

Our Donation this year to the Royal Childrens Hospital Appeal is $1076.80!!! This is made up from the Relaython, End of year raffle and Sunbury Little Aths matching dollar for dollar

SECRETARYS REPORT

My name is Kylie Harker and I have been the Sunbury Little Athletics Secretary for the Season 2018/2019, my first season in the position.

I would like to thank all the members of the current committee, your enthusiasm and invaluable help throughout the season has made it a great year.

Again this season we have had a number of Centre records broken for the next generation of athletes to chase and of course all the PB’s by the athletes on a weekly basis.

Congratulations to those athletes who have competed in the State Multi, Region Relays and Region & State Track and Field events this season.

I would like to thank all our sponsors this year Sunbury Bowling Club, Bumble Benz, Intersport Sunbury, Bakers Delight, Subway and Sunbury Ford, CBF, Sand & Soil, Hi Quality, Whitehorns Butcher & Simply Orthodontics.

To all the other local businesses that donated goods for our end of season raffles, I thank you all for your contribution in making them a great success.

Finally to all the little Athletes, it has been great to witness you all achieve your best each week, see your smiles and receive your high fives. You all make being a SLAC volunteer a meaningful and worthwhile experience. I would encourage other members to join the committee or become an official for competition days, to ensure the success of this great club for years to come.

REGISTRARS REPORT

My name is Deborah Watson and I have been the Registrar for the 2018/19 season. This was my first season as Registrar and I have enjoyed the diversity of the role.

This season seems to have gone very fast. We had 184 children registered this season compared to 190 and 208 in previous years. While most of those 184 registered early on in the season, we have had some register within the last few weeks as well.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the committee, parent helpers and volunteers who assist in the running of events, I understand there are times when you miss your child(ren) compete at events in order to assist the club and this is greatly appreciated. Sunbury Little Athletics is a volunteer run club and we have a wonderful culture of fairness, support and many dedicated volunteers.

This has been my first season as registrar although I have held many positions at the club since 2011 when my son commenced under 6s. I thoroughly enjoy being more involved within the club and encourage all parents to take an active role in the club.

I would like to thank all committee members for their hard work and dedication this season, a special mention goes to Dave and Robyn who assisted me when required to my own family who keep me updated with their results as they come by the discus cage.

I wish everyone a safe and happy “off season” and look forward to seeing the regular (and hopefully some new faces) during the cross-country season.

TREASURERS REPORT

Sunbury Little Athletics 2018-2019 Financial Year ran from 1^st March 2018 to 28^th February 2019.

The financials for 2018-2019 have been audited by an independent auditor.

During the financial period Sunbury Little Athletics had an income of $34,438.49, and expenditure of $28,557.60, leaving a profit of $5,880.89. The final closing Bank Balance for the period was

$23,223.74.

This year the canteen was again our biggest revenue raiser with a profit of $2,485.37. Lisa Kosinski has continued to do a fantastic job for the club managing the canteen.

A HUGE thank you to our Sponsors this year who provide great support to the club. Our sponsors this year included CBF Appliances, Club Sunbury (Sunbury Bowling Club), Sunbury Sand and Soil, Bumble Beanz, Hi-Quality Group, Sunbury Ford, Simply Orthodontics (new this year) and Bakers Delight. Additionally we have been supported throughout the year with discounted items, vouchers and raffle items from Whitehorn’s Butchers, Subway and InterSport to name just a few.

The largest expense after the canteen was equipment and maintenance, with new items such as scissor mats, updated PA system, lights for the sheds and general equipment repairs making up the majority of the cost.

A full set of financials are available to review upon request, and please do not hesitate to ask any questions regarding the financial performance and management of Sunbury Little Athletics at any time.

TEAM MANAGERS REPORT

The role of the Centre Team Manager is to encourage athlete participation in Regional and State events. To act as the main contact with Northern Metro Region and Little Athletics Victoria Officials with team entries and to represent Sunbury by organising the athletes at these events and the parents that are required to officiate.

The Team Manager is required to finalise athlete entries prior to the events as well as organise a parent roster as requested by Northern Metro Region. This season I would like to thank Robyn and David Thies for their organisational skills as well as set up and packing up at Regional events. The parent helpers also provided great support at these Regional events.

The Region Relays were first up, and although the participation numbers were down, the performances were not. Great times were achieved by all teams, finals made and medals were won.

Regional Multi event was run at Sunbury and a lot of work was needed to get the track up to standard. David Thies again worked tirelessly to make this happen. There were plenty of personal best performances by the Sunbury athletes and even medals won.

State Relays we had four teams qualify. Due to illness and injury, we had to withdraw these teams on the day.

Region & State Track and Field, again we had low numbers entered but performances from young to experienced athletes saw personal bests, finals and medals.

Thank you to all the parents that offered their help and support and fulfilled our Centre Duties at the numerous events. These days would not run without you, and your children would not get to experience competing against other athletes from other centres.
