Applications open for external assessment markers
Purpose
• To notify teachers, schools and other eligible applicants that the QCAA is seeking applications to mark senior external assessment in 2021.
• To remind 2020 markers to reapply, as QCAA external assessment chief markers, lead markers and markers are appointed annually.
Background
The QCAA employs and trains practising Queensland teachers and other eligible applicants (OEAs) with relevant experience (e.g. retired teachers, academics, teachers from other
jurisdictions) to mark external assessment for General, General (Extension) and General (Senior External Examination) (SEE) syllabuses using an online marking platform.
Information
The QCAA is seeking applications for the following QCAA assessor (external assessment marking) roles:
• markers (including oral assessment markers for SEE Languages)
• lead markers.
The marking operation will run from early October to the end of November 2021.
Some subjects may require the appointment of chief markers from the applicant pool.
Applications for lead marker roles may be considered for an appointment as chief marker.
Offers for lead markers, markers and reserve marker positions will be made in Term 3, 2021.
Please note:
• chief markers, lead markers and markers for subjects scheduled in Week 4 of the marking operation (please see the External Assessment timetable) will participate in full-day marking and must check they can be released from their school
• markers for SEE Languages oral assessment should also be available for the SEE Languages written assessment.

What you need to do
If you are considering applying for a marker role, visit the QCAA website for detailed information about eligibility requirements, selection and training, remuneration and the application process.
Encourage teachers and OEAs to apply.
Please note that the application process varies for the different marker groups:
• Applications from practising Queensland teachers must be submitted via the Assessor Jobs application in the QCAA Portal.
• Reapplicant OEA markers can submit an OEA application in the Assessor Jobs application in the QCAA Portal.
• New OEAs will need to register for a QCAA Portal account to submit an expression of interest.
