Applications open for QCAA assessors (confirmation)

Purpose

To notify teachers and schools that the QCAA is now seeking applications for QCAA assessor (confirmation) roles in the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system.

Background

In the new QCE system, confirmation is the quality assurance process that examines the

accuracy and consistency of teachers’ judgments about student responses to summative internal assessment instruments.

Confirmation ensures that:

• teachers’ judgments are valid and reliable

• students’ final subject results are credible

• teachers’ judgments are comparable across schools and across the state.

The confirmation process occurs for General and General (Extension) subjects.

Available vacancies

The QCAA is seeking applications for three types of QCAA assessor (confirmation) roles:

• confirmer

• lead confirmer

• chief confirmer.

Notional appointees must complete a training program for the subject they intend to confirm held in February/March 2020. Appointments will be formalised after satisfactory completion of the training.

Successful appointees must be able to attend confirmation events held in 2020 at various locations across Queensland.

The first confirmation event will be held from Tuesday 21 April to Friday 24 April 2020. QCAA assessors (confirmation) must attend one day per subject. The second confirmation event will be held on Friday 4 September and Saturday 5 September 2020. QCAA assessors (confirmation) must attend both days.
