www.rlac52.com.au rlac.teamapp.com Wow! Christmas is already here and we are at our last competition

of the year. Our last competition is a twilight competition this Friday night, so we hope we see you all there. We usually have a special visitor on the last competition of the year so make sure you keep an eye out for a jolly old man in red!

We will back in the new year with our recent tradition of the

‘Four Pillars’ event. This year, in addition to Box Hill, Doncaster and Nunawading, we will be joined by Collingwood – perhaps it is time to rename the event the Five Pillars!! The best thing is this year it will be held at Ringwood – we are excited to be hosting our neighbour Centres at Ringwood! It is a great event open to athletes of all ages, and we look to seeing as many athletes from Ringwood as possible on the 13th January (no entry necessary).

Lastly, a huge thank you to all our athletes and families from myself and the RLAC Committee – this year has started off really well and our Centre goes from strength to strength. We are a Centre with a strong community of families – something we are very proud of – and we thank you all for being part of that. We look forward to seeing you at Ringwood Little Athletics this Friday, and into 2018.

See you at the track,

Bryce

SAFETY

Dear Parents

Last week local residents alerted us to a concerning issue - used syringes have been located on consequtive days in the bark area outside the vehicle gate on the far side of the track (the one that permits parking on the grassy hill). If you use that area, or for that matter any public area around and in our grounds, please monitor your children closely and also take care yourself so that you don’t suffer any needle stick injuries. If you do see any syringes, please alert a committee member so they can be safely collected and disposed.

Once again, a big congratulations to all the athletes who have competed through the relay season, making it a really fun environment to be in. I hope they’ve had as much fun as I have. For those of you who are going on to compete on Saturday - Good Luck!

TECHNOLOGY UPDATE

No doubt most of you are aware of the issues we encountered with the timing systems on Friday night.

With this being the first full season back at the Ringwood track, we’ve seen a welcome surge in membership numbers, but this has put a lot of pressure on our weekly programme to try to squeeze in enough events for all our athletes every week.

Thanks to a series of grants, donations, and even a recycled shopping trolley, we’ve been able to upgrade some of the Timing System equipment for the Front Straight and Circular events, and we’ve invested in a completely new Wireless Timing System for the Back Straight as well.

This will make it a lot easier for us to fit everything into the weekly programme.

Unfortunately we encountered some very unusual technical issues with the upgraded Timing System equipment on the front straight on Saturday, which had us scratching our heads for a while there, but we were able to implement a work around and still finish the competition at a reasonable time.

HEATHMONT REPORT

It’s hard to believe it’s that time of the year again. Last event of the year before our Christmas break.

This year has flown by. For all those athletes who’ve achieved their first PB medal, don’t forget to stop by the table and grab your medal.

Also, don’t forget to look out for Santa on Friday night too.

See ya Friday night, have a great weekend and Christmas break!

RINGWOOD HEIGHTS REPORT

Ringwood Heights

What a fun day Pentathlon Day was! There was a huge amount of PB’s happening on Saturday, plenty of little stars on tickets. We have our work cut out for us updating that board this Friday night.

We would love to wish everyone from Ringwood Heights and from RLAC a safe and happy Christmas and we can’t wait to see you all back in the final half of the 2017/2018 season.

Thanks for making memories with us this year.
