34.2. The Vice-Chancellor shall resign his office upon the expiration of twelve calendar months from the date of his election, or until the day preceding that on which he withdraws from the Council, if he. The Chancellor or the Vice-Chancellor, or in their absence the Registrar, shall convene a meeting of the Council upon the written request of four members, and such request shall state the purposes for which the meeting is to be convened. The meeting will be held within four days of receipt of the request. 4. The Council shall have the power to make, modify and revoke standing orders for the regulation of its proceedings.

Until amended or repealed, the Standing Order of the Senate passed December 2, 1885, shall remain in force.

There shall be a registrar for the university who shall perform such duties as the council may from time to time appoint. Any other candidate may be admitted to the matriculation examination by the council after approval by the N4atriculation board. Vice-chancellor for all members of the council who are judges of the Supreme Court, the professors and associate professors.

Each Faculty will advise the Council on all questions regarding the studies, studies and examinations in the courier of the Faculty. 4. General

17, These Statutes may be varied from time to time, but the title .. and general purpose of the exchange and exhibitions shall not be . changed'. L There shall be an annual prize, to be called the Tohn Howar.d clark Prize, which shall consist of one-half of the total portion of the fund received by the Universit)' as aforesaid. This award will be given to the candidate for the Honors Degree of Bachelor of Arts who will have the final examination in the English language school.

This statute may vary from time to time, but the title would not change the purpose of the scholarship. Authorized December 10, 1915. At all lectures, examinations and public ceremonies of the University, graduates and students must dress academically.

The hoods for doctors shall be of silk of a darker shade of the color used for the hoods of bachelors of the same faculty, fully lined with silk of the lighter shade of the same color. 5' The council appoints the examiners on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine. The scholarship is awarded by the Faculty of Science and Technology Recruitment Council. The prize will be worth 350 and will be available for each year.

Subject to the provisions of clause 8, the scholarship shall be awarded for one game of Viola. The department lists must be entered by the secretary. in the À4 inutes. Members of the council must be elected at the first meeting after the vacancy has been filled.

THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE

Fees will be paid either in a lump sum at the beginning of the Conservator's year or in equal installments at the beginning of the year. 34; At the end of the year, any student who has studied a major subject can, upon written request, receive a progress report, signed by the director. A copy of any composition so published shall be deposited in the Library of the Conservatory.

One scholarship will follow the current one in each of the following subjects:-Singing;. No candidate who holds, or has held, any other scholarship or prize held for three years at the Elders' Conservatory for any of the above subjects, shall be eligible to receive an Eldel Scholarship in the same subject. In such a case, the Council directs that the funds of the scholarship be used to help deserving students cover the cost of their music education.

A bursary can also be determined at any time if the holder is guilty of misconduct in the opinion of the Council. A scholar will participate in such Conservatory concerts, classes and other activities as the Director of the Conservatory requires. The scholarship will be offered for competition at the end of the year in which his term of office expires, either by retirement, resignation or forfeiture.

THE ELDER CONSERVATORIUM OLD SCIIOLARS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is awarded only if, in the opinion of exanriners, the candidate is of sufficient merit. The scholarship can be determined at any time if, in the opinion of the council, the holder has committed a crime. The scholarship holder must participate in concerts, lectures and other activities of the Conservatory, which may be requested by the director of the Conservatory.

The scholarship is offered for competition either towards the end or at the beginning of the conservatory year.

TIIE INSTITUTE OF I\{EDICAL SCIENCES 189 .. in any case that the individual is under the supervision of the Institute and agrees to devote a certain amount of time to his duties. The Institute is recognized by the University of Adelaide as an approved laboratory in which postgraduate research can be carried out. A development of the policy of closer co-operation with the University in the interests of medical science is the accommodation in the Medical Library of the University and the Library of the Institute, forming one central collection of medical periodicals in Adelaide. In 194l, additional accommodation for larger animals was provided .. at an approximate cost of 32,000. Part of the cost was covered by Lady Parsons and part by the South Australian Government.

In addition, an annual grant of 8,1200 is now received from the Government for special research into swine diseases in South Australia, Owing. Due to a large increase in expenditure, the Council of the Institute has requested the government to increase the annual subsidy. The University contributes approximately 91,300 annually towards the salaries of various members of the Institute's staff, either for their services as lecturers at the University or to promote medical research. On the occasion of the official opening, the Council of the Institute published a brochure describing the new building. Annual reports describing the Institute's activities in detail.

THE ANTI-CANCER COMMITTEE

A Clinical Committee, made up of members of the Hospital's Honorary Staff, chairs the Honorary Radiation Therapist, oversees the treatment of patients and meets weekly. Research pathologist who took up a full-time job at the committee upon his return from extended study leave at the end of 1949.

St All-s College- was founded and affiliated to the University in 1939, following a bequest from the late Mr. and property in Brougham Place, North Adelaide, for the establishment of a non-denominational college for women students of the Uni- . However, for various reasons, especially the outbreak of war in September 1939, the college did not open for students until 1947.

The book or books are chosen by the winner with the consent of the professor of French language and literature, and they must be equipped with a bookplate designed for this purpose.

2. The remainder of the income from the fund after the payment of the award provided for in Article 1 is used for the purchase of books. Each book thus purchased contains an ex-libris indicating that it is part of The Violet de Mole Memo-. This scholarship, with an annual value of 30 f, is awarded annually and is valid for two years.
