A place will be offered in the first course on the preference list, provided the applicant meets all entry requirements and there are vacancies. When choosing preferences, applicants should consider the following: Only courses with entry requirements consistent with a realistic estimate of the applicant's academic ability should be selected.

Applicants are considered for each course in turn according to expressed preference (ie from the first to the sixth).

If more than one subject is attempted, the highest NTE score obtained will be shared. Applicants who have completed less than two semester units in a tertiary course will be selected on the basis of their previous TE or NTE results.

Previous results in tertiary education for applicants who have completed two or more semester units of a degree, diploma or associate degree course at any tertiary institution but have not graduated from any such course. NTE is calculated on upper tertiary studies; refer to any original TE or NTE estimate only if the NTE estimate derived from this list is significantly lower.

It is designed to provide graduates with professional knowledge and skills in the field of industrial relations. Those who enroll on the course are usually already engaged in industrial relations work or are employed in positions such as personnel officer, supervisor, industrial advocate or trade union official.
Associate Diploma in Secretarial Studies
The introduction of the current Associate Degree courses in Community Welfare and Recreation marked the College's first move into areas of education other than teacher training. The department will offer three courses in 1982 • Bachelor of Arts (Recreation Administration) Associate Diploma in Community Recreation Associate Diploma in Community Welfare. The Grading Committee may recommend to a student whose record in any semester includes unsatisfactory grades (ie grades of 1, 2, 3, or U) -. i) re-enroll or, if you have subsequently completed all units, graduate as normal (see Graduation section below); or ii) Re-engage in normal or reduced unit load but complete such additional work as may be prescribed by the Head of Department;. iii) re-enter the normal or reduced load of the new units, but in addition repeat the work of the failed units; or iv) repeating failed units or repeating the entire semester of study, including passed and failed units, before you are allowed to continue with new units (progress restriction); v) be excluded from further study in the relevant course for a specified period or permanently.
Assessment Committees may recommend that a student graduate if such student has completed all but one unit in his final semester and achieved a grade of 3 in that unit, provided that no more than four grades of 3 can be accumulated in any part-time at any one time graduation. Program or three grades of 3 in any degree program or provided that the total weekly contact hours of units in which grades of 3 have been achieved do not exceed 9 contact hours in any associate degree program or 14 contact hours in any degree program, whichever is smaller.

In year two, an eight-week block placement is organized halfway through the year. These two courses were originally designed to meet the needs of the older student, but over time the Associate Diploma in Creative Arts has been made available to young people who have recently completed high school. For the school leaver, the Associate Diploma in Creative Arts offers the opportunity to build skills and confidence and define career goals.
A student who has obtained more than two grades of 3· in any of the Associate Diploma in Creative Arts and Associate Diploma in Humanities and Science courses is not eligible for the degree.

One of these features is the emphasis on micro-teaching and school-based studies; another is the emphasis on practical teaching in schools; a third feature is the emphasis on further personal development through a program of liberal studies. Continuing education courses emphasize practicality, provide the opportunity for individual guidance and take into account the needs of adult students. The teacher training school is organized into five departments - Basic Studies, Curriculum Studies, Further Education, Sports and Field Studies.
The buildings and facilities for the course services offered by the school are modern and are located in both Kedron Park and Carseldine.
Assignments
A grade of 3 in a unit which is a prerequisite for another unit must also be repeated. Students may not accumulate grades of 3 in more than three (3) non-prerequisite units for any 3-year course or one (1) non-prerequisite unit in any 1-year course. A student who has accumulated more than three grades out of 3 in the Diploma in Education (Primary or Primary and Preschool) will not be eligible to graduate.
A student who has achieved more than one grade 3 in the Graduate Diploma in Teaching, the Graduate Diploma in Music Education, the Bachelor of Education or the Diploma in Teaching (In-service) is not eligible for graduation.

List D: Professional Competencies Electives - DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (BASIC). i) Students will be guided in the selection of units from this list. The units are intended to compensate for any educational deficiencies of students in the curriculum areas of primary education. ii) A total of 4 units must be completed in stages 1 to 4 of the teacher diploma.

An introduction to the screen printing process with a particular focus on fabric printing as a means of developing an understanding of the use of form in design.
