ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 1995 In accordance with section 25 (1) of the Hospital Management Boards Act, I present the Tennant Creek Hospital Management Board Annual Report on its and the Hospital's activities for the year ended 30 June 1995.

The following Worlcs Projects were carried out in 1994/95:
Minor New Works
Ward 1 upgrade reception area.
Staff Accommodation - Shade cover for pool.
Increase covered parking and parking bays in departmental vehicle compound.
Build covered carports for staff vehicles.
Repairs and Maintenance
Demolish old nursing home.
Upgrade air conditioning controls - Stage 2.
Routine maintenance and servicing of
air conditioners in accommodation and sterilisers.

Hospital Activities for 1994/95 Staffin~

Staffing has remained stable. The rotational Medical Officer from Alice Springs Hospital continues. The dual role of Medical Officers servicing Hospital and Rural areas was continued this year and provides a mechanism for continuity of care between both areas.
The Aboriginal Liaison Officer continued to be utilised within the Hospital.
Study sponsorship for staff to undertake courses continues. Mrs Kathy Stow, Hospital Manager, received a Departmental scholarship to enable her to complete her studies full time.
Ms Lesley Kemmis acted in the position of Hospital Manager in her absence.
Heart Start Machine
A group of Hospital staff formed a fund raising committee that enabled a 'Heart Start' cardiac monitor to be purchased.
Hospital Gardens
The Hospital grounds was successful in winning its category of the Central Australia garden competition.
Services
The Tennant Creek Hospital continues to service residents of Tennant Creek and the Barkly Tablelands with a range of inpatient, outpatient and Accident and Emergency services. Aero Medical evacuations are undertaken by Hospital Medical and Nursing staff.
The Board acknowledges the skills and dedication of Hospital staff and management in providing an essential service.
