QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Under the Director, the Registrar will - (a) be responsible for the general administration of the Institute;. The Council may make Rules for the coming into force of all or any of the provisions of this By-law.
RULES RELATING TO STUDENT MATTERS
Dean of Faculty' means a member of the academic staff appointed and so designated by the Council. Head of Department' means a member of the academic staff appointed by the Council and designated as the senior academic staff member in a particular Department.
GENERAL EXAMINATION RULES
Part I. DEFINITIONS
Reference to "head of department" in these rules is deemed to include reference to "head of school".
DETERMINATION AND NOTIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS
The Registrar will have first visit to Lecture Rooms, Seminar Rooms, Drawing Offices and other examination accommodation during periods approved for Central Examinations. The Registrar may prescribe the date on which all Central Examination papers to be prepared by examiners must be sent to the Examinations Section within the Registrar's Office and the form in which such papers will be received. a) The Registrar shall be responsible for preparing a timetable for all Central Examinations and for publishing this timetable as required by these rules.
Part IV. ELIGIBILITY TO UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS
DEFERRED EXAMINATIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
A candidate may not leave an examination room before the examination session without permission from a supervisor. A person, whether a candidate or not, shall not do anything intended to assist another person taking an examination to cheat or otherwise frustrate the purposes of the examination.

Based on the results provided by the Head of Department, the Registrar provides to each Academic Council. The Academic Council responsible for the course in which the student is enrolled must notify the Registrar of a final result no later than two weeks (or six weeks with the approval of the Academic Council) after the start of the following semester.
REVIEW OF RESULTS
In such cases, the Registrar must advise the student in writing to contact the head of department responsible for running the subject in order to determine the exact requirements for the final result to be issued. Unless it is the case where the study board responsible for the course has decided that further assessment is desirable before publication of a final result, the student must have the opportunity to explain to the registrar why the result should not be withheld.
The recommendation of the Academic Committee and/or Appeals Committee is forwarded to the Council for approval. The institution is managed by a librarian under the general supervision of the director and the council. Any person seeking permission to use the Library pursuant to Article 5(a)(iv) must apply in writing to the Dean of the Faculty of Law.
CENTRAL SERVICES
In addition, a horizontal shoulder strap 100 mm long and 50 mm wide in the color of the school in which the degree was obtained must be attached to the academic gown. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Most are connected to the Institute's computer network via a MICOM 600/2 Port Selector that allows connection to all computers on the network. Users should consult the Program Library Catalog for details on the wide range of packages available. The technical area, consisting of studios, graphics workshop and darkrooms, is located on level 1. The office suite, seminar room and self-service workspace are located on level 2. The AM Fraser Library is centrally located on campus in 'V' Block.
STUDENT SERVICES
It was founded with the financial assistance of the QIT Union and exists to foster social interaction within and between students and staff of the QIT community. The Club is also managed by a committee elected by members of the QIT Union executive and members of the Club. Gough The facilities and services of the Optometry, Podiatry and Weight Management Clinics in the School of Health Sciences are also available to students.
INSTITUTE FUNCTIONS
The QIT Union organizes various activities on campus to introduce students to the activities of the various clubs and associations, and to introduce students to the social life on campus. The QIT Admissions and Administrative Services Section, under the direction of the Deputy Registrar, is responsible for publications that provide easily accessible information to the general public. Other publications relating to specific functions of the Institute include: - The Queensland Tertiary Courses Booklet.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Students intending to apply for admission to a course of their own are not considered unregistered students and must follow the application procedures outlined previously. Students seeking readmission after lapsed enrollment of whatever duration, who are not clear of all first-year subjects of the course for which they are seeking readmission and who have not been granted leave of absence, must re-apply for a place through QTAC in the quota. Applicants do not need to apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Center unless they are seeking entry to a course from which they are not excluded.
ADMISSION POLICY and ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of the program guarantees entry into any degree or associate degree course offered by the Faculty of Engineering. Applicants must provide a full description of the program(s) including the purpose, structure and other information on the organizing body; duration and location of classes, seminars, workshops; outcomes obtained and perceived benefits of participation or reasons for non-completion (where appropriate). Degree or diploma from a recognized university or CAE with an appropriate major in accounting, provided that in the case of a degree, additional work may be required by the Head of the Accounts Department.
