An Act to suspend the operation of certain provisions of the Life Assurance Companies Act, 1936-1941.

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor of the State of South Australia, with the ad vice and consent of the Parliament- thereof, as follows:
Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the" Life Assurance Companies-
Act (Partial Suspension) Act, 1943 ".
SUSpeJlSionof 2. (1) Sections 45, 46 and 47 of the Life Assurance Com-
~ ~h~: and panies Act 1936, shall not apply in relation to any financial
~~~:. Act. year or half-year, the whole or any part of which year or half- year falls within the period of the continuance of the present war.
(2) In this section" the present war" means the war which commenced on the third day of September, nineteen hundred and thirty-nine, and includes any other war in which His Majesty ,has become or becomes engaged during the continuance of that war; and for purposes of this section the present war shall be deemed to continue until the day on whioh Australia by reason of a general armistice or other arrangements ceases to be en- gaged in warlike operations in that war.
